We're looking for an ambitious and hard-working professional to join our Cultivation Team in as a Data Technician Co-Op

The Data Technician will play a key role in Aurora's Innovation and Consumer Preference programs including, but not limited to historical data and trend analyses, key performance indicators and quality metrics monitoring, and trained sensory panel work. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Excel, as well as basic wet lab sample preparation activities. The Data Technician will be involved in hands-on sensory science programs and will help support a variety of data analyses and reporting. Daily activities will include data collection, data analysis, report generation, communication of results, preparation of samples, supporting sensory panel sessions, and sample logistics. The successful candidate will have exceptional organization skills, technical expertise, and will actively participate with colleagues to complete projects in a timely and effective manner.

Responsibilities

The major responsibilities for the role of Data Technician will include, but are not limited to:

  • Carry out recurring daily, weekly, and quarterly data analysis and reporting
  • Generate ad hoc data summaries, visualisations, and reports
  • Improve and further automate data pipelines and key scripts
  • Coordinate sample logistics for various projects
  • Assist in sample preparation and logistics for sensory science work
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelors or diploma in a related scientific discipline, or equivalent
  • Experience with data analysis, visualisation, and statistics in R and Excel
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated, creative individual able to work well with others
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A "get it done" attitude with no compromise on quality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with basic wet lab sample preparation
  • Knowledge of the cannabis plant and industry
  • Comfortable presenting results and drawing conclusions from data
  • Experience with univariate and multivariate statistics
  • Sensory science experience (includes culinary)
  • A valid driver's license
