This role will be based at our Bradford facility and travel into other facilities including but not limited to Brampton, Markham, Jarvis or Pemberton BC may be required and the location / frequency is based on business needs.

As the Director, HSE you will…
- Be a core member of the Operations Leadership Team and provide guidance and direction to the operational sites as it relates to HSE governance, initiatives, and reporting
- Ensure implementation, effectiveness, and integrity of the corporate HSE program, policies, and procedures, so that they are complaint to applicable standards and regulations (provincial and federal)
- Lead a HSE team at each of the operational sites to ensure a high-performing dynamic and foster professional develop through performance reviews, training, and career coaching
- Establish effective leading and lagging indicators to monitor health and safety performance and risks, including regular reporting to senior management
- Spearhead our approach to realizing continual improvements in health and safety performance and risks by identifying actionable insights from various sources, including key performance indicators, incident reports, external audits, vendor management systems etc.
- Direct the implementation of initiatives that positively influence and align the actions and behaviours exhibited by our community to support our commitment to workplace health and safety
- Develop, execute, and maintain the implementation of the HSE strategy and related organizational learning / training to strengthen and report on HSE KPIs
- Be an active member of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee to develop & implement sustainable initiatives and ensure reporting to appropriate agencies
- Support various HSE related activities such as providing expertise on equipment and processes, liaising with the JHSC committee, and ensuring records for training, audits and licenses are updated
- Partner with Operational leads and Human Resources to strengthen return to work strategies and safety culture
- Partner with other functional areas to establish and cultivate the HSE culture to reduce injuries and incidents by:
- Ensuring analytics are meaningful and actionable and incidents are thoroughly investigated to determine the root cause, and implement correctives to prevent recurrence
- Building a back-to-basics approach with front-line leaders and employees with floor presence and education, and fostering a culture where employees take accountability for their own safety
- Performing gemba walks to audit the program and identify opportunities for improvement
As an experienced leader you will have…
- Post-secondary education, such as a bachelor’s degree in OH&S, with 10+ years of experience leading and managing HSE programs in manufacturing environments
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a leadership role (we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
- Proficiency with all MS Office products including Excel
- Extensive understanding and knowledge of provincial and federal health and safety guidelines, especially in BC and ON
- CSP/CRSP designation would be an asset
