Job summary
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the physical facilities within an organization. This role involves performing a variety of tasks to ensure the safety, functionality, and aesthetics of the facilities, contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.
Major Responsibilities / Duties:
- Routine Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks, including but not limited to HVAC filter change, pvc & plumbing, and general building repairs like epoxy flooring, paint touch-ups, silicon caulking, dry wall patch-up and fix, blocked drain lines, flush valve replacement and fix.
- Facility Inspection: Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance of washroom, for water leakage in lung area, compactor, dryer washer, also changing the AHU and FFU units filter on timely manner, make sure filter inventory is up to date.
- Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment, system such as water flush valves in washroom, compactor, automatic sanitizer not working, also epoxy floor repair and touch up for the paint on the wall’s doors, etc.
- Custodial Duties: Assist with basic custodial duties such as cleaning common areas, restrooms, and maintaining a tidy appearance of the facilities, keep up the spill kit stocks, of carboard and garbage from few areas around the perimeter of building and maintenance shop across the facility.
- Security Support: Collaborate with security personnel to implement and maintain security measures for the facilities.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to emergency situations, participating in drills and ensuring preparedness for unforeseen incidents.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs using Dimo CMMS software and isolocity.
- Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance projects.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of tools and equipment related to facilities maintenance, including knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair work.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Safety Awareness: Thorough understanding of safety protocols and the ability to promote a culture of safety within the organization.
- Communication: Effective communication skills to interact with staff, vendors, and management.
- Forklift: Forklift experience is must as many of the task for this job required moving stuff like filters and glycol totes across the facilities.
Education & Experience:
- 3+ years’ experience in Facilities type maintenance (Trades license not necessary but work experience must compensate for that)
- Comfortable with interpreting building, electrical and mechanical drawings
- Understanding of the general workflow of large scale HVACR systems
- Consider themselves a “general handyperson” as it relates to work and tools
- Able to operate both forklifts and scissor lifts
- Ability to prioritize tasks and use time effectively
- Ability to establish business relationships with key contractors/suppliers, and stakeholders
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills within a multi-disciplinary team and diverse internal and external customers/suppliers
- Able to follow and uphold standard operating procedures precisely and consistently; accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations.
- Able to respond to complex situations/competing interests and resolving issues quickly and positively
- Operational excellence and continuous improvement oriented; safety minded and able to always follow strict safety protocols.
Working Conditions :
- Physical effort is required, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Temperatures range from 20 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.
- Able to perform cleaning and crop maintenance duties while working on a step ladder.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and after hours as required.
- Repetitive use of hands, wrists, and forearms
- This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure
- Full PPE in production area includes booties, coveralls, gloves, hairnet, glasses and surgical mask.
