Head of Global Finance Operations

(travel into our Bradford facility will be required on a weekly basis and travel into other facilities, including Markham and Jarvis Ontario, or across Canada as required)

Job Summary

We’re searching for an experienced professional to lead our global finance operation division as the Head of Global Finance Operations. In this role, you will report into the SVP, Finance and be responsible for the supply chain finance portfolio. More specifically, you will oversee $120M in global COGS and $140M in inventory including: 7 cultivation and production sites, regional distribution centers, procurement, capital spending and total operations results across Europe and North and South America locations. 

You will be a core member of the finance and supply chain leadership teams and will drive value at all levels of the business to enable our success in the market. As the Head of Global Finance Operations you will…

  • Provide business partner level support to the EVP, Operations, and commercial teams for all aspects of global operations, including divisional strategic decisions, and cost and cashflow management
  • Lead the Global Operations Finance team and manage the performance, development, and training of all employees to elevate talent capabilities
  • Facilitate productivity and cashflow improvements to support overall business performance
  • Govern the management accounting and forecasting processes for Global Operations including annual budgeting and monthly updates of COGS, cost standards and cashflow budgeting
  • Oversee financial reporting, accounting processes and financial controls for global operations, to ensure agile compliance for SOX and other risk management requirements
  • Partner with VP, Supply Chain to lead a robust integrated business planning (S&OP) process to provide a rolling 18–24-month forecast
  • Act as the business process leader for all cost and cashflow related processes in the ERP and related planning, reporting, business intelligence and related systems
  • Coordinate financial analysis and business case development of network strategy decisions including Make vs Buy decisions and CapEx investments
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement across Operations


In the first 12 months you will…

  • Build confidence across the organization to help leaders understand costs and opportunities for improving gross margins, and become the “go to” for financial insights and business advice
  • Implement standardized cost management processes across all Sites to support accurate cost reporting including period close in 5 days, and cost forecasting for next period. Process designs will support rapid implementation of ERP to automate and improve decision quality
  • Introduce reporting and rapid feedback (minimum weekly) to Site leadership teams on variances vs cost standards to drive accountability and continuous improvement (key examples: actual labour costs vs standards, material variances vs standards, utilities costs vs standards, fixed cost management, warehouse cost etc.)
  • Lead monthly financial review of Site and network performance vs budget and cashflow
  • Support rapid improvement in cost, cashflow and inventory management
     

As an experienced professional you will have…

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
  • A professional accounting or finance designation 
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in operations finance, FP&A, and controllership (we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
  • A strong understanding of P&L and balance sheet interrelationships, supply chain operations, cost accounting, and capital accounting
  • Advance knowledge of key processes including S&OP, capital approval, and product commercialization

  • An MBA with experience operating in a CPG environment
