Job summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Trainer of Operations to manage and facilitate all technical training onsite. Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, this role is crucial in designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive training programs specific to the cultivation, processing, and packaging of cannabis products.  The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating education and training programs for adult learners in a manufacturing environment.

 

As a Manager - Operations Training Program, you will be responsible for….

    Strategic Leadership:

      • Develop and execute the overall Operations training and development strategy to support the company’s objectives, and complement the existing Leadership Development Program.
      • Align training programs with business goals and employee development needs.
      • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve training effectiveness.

    Program Development and Management:

      • Design, implement, and oversee comprehensive training programs, including operations/job specific onboarding and technical training, 
      • Develop customized training solutions to address specific needs of different departments and roles within the organization.
      • Evaluate and update training materials, methodologies, and technologies to ensure they are current and effective.

    Support for Manufacturing Sites:

      • Coordinate and deliver operations specific training programs across multiple manufacturing sites.
      • Ensure consistency and standardization of training materials, resources, and job aids across all locations.
      • Travel to various sites as needed to assess training needs and implement programs.

    Team Leadership and Development:

      • Lead and mentor personnel responsible for operations training delivery across various departments, providing guidance, feedback, and coaching.
      • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.

     

    Stakeholder Collaboration:

      • Partner with department heads, HR, and senior leadership to identify training needs and priorities across operations
      • Communicate training initiatives and outcomes to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and support cross functionally.

    Evaluation and Reporting:

      • Establish metrics and KPIs to assess the effectiveness and impact of training programs.
      • Provide regular reports on training activities, participation, satisfaction, and performance improvements.
      • Use data-driven insights to refine and enhance training programs.

    Budget Management:

      • Develop and manage the training budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
      • Source and manage relationships with external training vendors and consultants as needed.

    Travel:

    Onsite role – travel to other sites within Ontario as needed

     

You would be the best fit for this role if you have:

    • Proven track record of designing and implementing successful training programs.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
    • Experience with data analysis and reporting on training metrics.

Education and Experience.

 

 

    • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Organizational Development, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in training and development
    • Certification in training (e.g., CPTD, ATD) is a plus
    • Willing to travel to multiple manufacturing sites as needed.
    • Experience in the manufacturing industry or a similar environment is highly desirable.
