Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, Operations – River, the Supervisor, Maintenance is responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient use of all manpower, materials, parts, and other resources under their control. This role focuses on providing capacity, asset reliability, and best life cycle cost to the operation, emphasizing proactive and preventative maintenance processes.
Responsibilities/Duties
• Team Leadership: Oversee, motivate, and train staff to ensure effective teamwork, high standards of work quality, and organizational performance. Encourage continuous learning and innovation.
• Staff Management: Authorize and coordinate vacation and overtime requests. Monitor and evaluate staff performance, approve salary increments, and recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Maintenance Prioritization: Establish priorities for scheduled and unscheduled equipment and facility maintenance activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective completion.
• Documentation: Ensure all maintenance, calibration, repair, or alteration work related to equipment and building systems is documented and approved (e.g., CMMS work orders, reports).
• Data-Driven Decisions: Use data to measure the effectiveness of countermeasures.
• Preventative Maintenance: Develop, implement, and monitor the Preventative Maintenance Program for all equipment and building systems, including in-house and contracted services.
• Lifecycle Management: Audit and track the lifecycle of equipment and building systems for replacement.
• Vendor Management: Manage external service providers to ensure preventive maintenance work is completed as per contracts and key performance indicators.
• Standard Procedures: Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and Standard Documents as necessary.
• Compliance: Ensure all processes and compliance programs are met (GMP, Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety, etc.). Ensure staff are trained in Health and Safety policies, SOPs, and specific work requirements.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety matters under Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
• Regulatory Adherence: Adhere to Aurora’s SOPs and comply with Health Canada’s Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR), ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environment Management System), and OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series).
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Proven problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Flexible, adaptable, and experienced in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other MS Office tools.
Education & Experience
• Certified Industrial Electrician/Millwright.
• Experience in the implementation and supervision of an integrated CMMS (DEMO).
• Minimum 3-5 years of experience in supervising maintenance.
• Strong understanding of GMP and its application to Maintenance and Facilities management.
