SUPERVISOR, QUALITY CONTROL

 

We are looking for a Supervisor, Quality Control who is ready to learn, grow, and take on new challenges. They will be part of our growing Quality team that is making impactful contributions ensuring that the company is meeting the highest quality standards.

 

MAIN RESPONSILBITIES:

  • Ensure timely and accurate testing ingredients and finished products to achieve compliance with product specifications and support on-going efficiency of manufacturing.
  • Provide guidance to production employees and peers to ensure programs and methods are within regulatory and corporate requirements to maintain the quality and safety of the product.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to quality control employees by providing work direction, scheduling, performance feedback, and recommendation for training and development.
  • Supervise and provide leadership in all areas of quality control including but not limited to the raw material system, in-process manufacturing controls, and new product quality control.
  • Where applicable ensure that all corporate quality measure in the plants are monitored by maintaining the plants systems and by conducting regular plan audits to promote a focus on excellence in quality, yield and cost containment in conjunction with assisting with Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Reinforce the quality control function by promoting awareness of and adherence to quality control/assurance and product safety standards/principles/practices within all operating group areas, by conducting regular GMP, Health Canada (and other regulatory requirement) training with all employees, analyzing quality trends, and supporting production with problem solving.
  • Where applicable assist in the improvement of existing products and of the development of new products by reviewing product formulations, product and ingredient specifications, label compliance, packaging approvals, standard operating procedures and process flows to ensure cannabis quality and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Where applicable participate in the development of new or existing products and the introduction of new technology by performing evaluations, on-site inspections and validations to ensure government and internal regulatory requirements are being met.
  • Ensure that all quality programs, systems and compliance meet or exceed corporate and legislated specifications by conducting routine product analyses and systems audits to verify compliance.
  • Support adherence to departmental budget through on-going monitoring of departmental spending.
  • Lead the development/change of analytical release testing requirements for new products.
  • Participate and lead (as required) projects on specification standardization and review with the rest of the QC team.
  • Write standard operating procedures, manuals, work instructions when required.
  • Where applicable, in collaboration with patient/customer service, sales and production, respond to patient, customer and consumer demands.
  • Assist the Quality Assurance Manager to monitor and maintain, in combination with the production department high quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

 

 

  • A Canadian (or assessed as equivalent) B.Sc. degree or equivalent in an applicable discipline of science (chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, chemical engineering, medicine, horticulture, medical laboratory science or related).
  • Three (3) years’ experience in Quality Control/Assurance.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurances programs such as GMP, HACCP and ISO.
  • Strong team facilitation/leadership skills with a commitment to team development.
  • Strong interpersonal, and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Leadership / team facilitation skills.
  • Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient with standard office computer technology such as Microsoft Office products, as well as business systems such as SAP.
