Job summary
The Team Member, Cultivation (Propagation), is responsible for supporting the propagation process within a cannabis cultivation facility. This role involves assisting in various tasks related to cloning, rooting, and initial growth stages of plants to ensure healthy propagation .
Major Responsibilities / Duties:
Propagation Assistance:

Assist in cloning, cutting, transplanting, and maintaining plants during the propagation process.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and quality in the propagation phase.
Plant Care and Monitoring:

Monitor and maintain the health and growth of propagated plants, including watering, transplanting, pruning, defoliating, and crop maintenance as required.

Report any signs of disease, pests, or abnormalities to the propagation lead.
Propagation Area Maintenance:

Assist in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and sanitation in the propagation area to prevent contamination and ensure optimal plant growth conditions.

Aid in cleaning and sanitizing tools and equipment used in propagation processes.
Documentation and Record-keeping:

Collaborate with the propagation leads to document tasks performed and report any issues encountered.
Biosecurity & Quality

Adhere to strict sanitation and cross contamination policies to ensure top quality of plants.

Learn and understand cross contamination risks in cultivation and adhere to strict SOP compliance to reduce biosecurity risks.
Accountabilities:

Support in executing propagation tasks and maintaining the health and consistency of propagated plants.
- Adherence to safety regulations, sanitation practices, and accurate documentation of propagation activities.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic understanding of plant propagation techniques, cloning, rooting, and early growth stages in a cultivation setting.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately, work efficiently within a team, and communicate observations to supervisors.
- Attention to detail in plant monitoring, recording observations, and maintaining cleanliness in the propagation area.
- Basic understanding of contamination and cross contamination in a cultivation setting.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance regulations in a cultivation environment, especially in propagation processes.
- Ability to work in warm environments, lift minimum 30lbs.
- Able to work on ladders and stand for long periods of time.
- Able to push, pull, bend and lift.
- Able to squat and stand.
Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Previous experience in plant care, propagation, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory.

Training or certifications in horticulture, agriculture, or propagation techniques are advantageous
Working Conditions:
-
Most/all working hours will be spent in production.
-
Full PPE is to be worn at all times during working hours. Includes booties, coveralls, gloves, hairnets, glasses, surgical mask, beard nets, CSA safety shoes, and certain duties also require use of half face respirator.

Physical effort is required, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 lbs.

Repetitive hand-based work and long durations standing at ground level and elevated surfaces. Ability to climb a ladder and work on ladders for long periods, with some minimal seated work.

Temperatures range from 20 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius with the humidity 50-70%.

Ability to work weekends, holidays and after hours as required.

Ability to work with chemicals and pesticides, as required.
- This role is in one of Aurora’s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified plants and works directly with products. Towards the end of the recruitment process, we require that you undergo a medical screening exam with our third-party vendor.
