Technical Assistant, Irrigation (Assistant Grower)


Reporting to the Supervisor of Irrigation, the Technical Assistant, Irrigation will be working out of our Bradford facility and will work closely to with other departments to ensure proper care is provided to our plants. 



  • Set up automatic and manual irrigation events to manage the volumetric water content as per the irrigation supervisor/coordinator
  • EC/pH monitoring and management of the crop
  • Regularly partake in sanitation and cleaning events & spraying pest control products
  • Calibrate, operate, clean and maintain equipment used in irrigation room and flower rooms
  • Visual inspections of crop health & pest and disease
  • Mixing nutrients according to guidelines/policies.
  • Receiving nutrients as outlined in SOP.
  • Documenting nutrient usage, cleaning and maintenance logs
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure timely & effective operations, including facility maintenance.
  • Recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and product loss.
  • Support in all areas of operating irrigation systems, including general maintenance and sanitation.
  • Position details and activities may change from time to time in order to meet operational needs.
  • Weekend work on a rotating basis.
  • Other duties as required



  • Physical effort is required, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 55 lbs.
  • Temperatures range from 18 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and after hours as required.

  • Strong Communication skills within a professional work environment
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists and forearms.
  • Comfortable working with step ladders (i.e. two step ladder/single sided step ladder).
  • The irrigation department operates 7 days a week, technical assistants are required to work 1 in every 3 weekends, with the potential for evening work and regular overtime hours
  • This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure.



  • Previous greenhouse or horticulture experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems and irrigation equipment is an asset.
  • Experience using climate/irrigation control systems (Priva, Argus, or Hoogendoorn) is an asset
  • Highly Reliable team player
  • Mechanically inclined and able to work with tools
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills in MS Office
