The Processing Assistant, Trimming, plays a vital role in the post-harvest processing of agricultural or horticultural products. This position primarily focuses on the precise and efficient trimming of plants or crops to meet quality standards and prepare them for further processing or distribution.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Trimming Operations: Perform meticulous trimming of plants, crops, or agricultural products according to specified guidelines and quality standards.
  2. Quality Control: Inspect products before and after trimming to ensure they meet established quality and appearance criteria.
  3. Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain trimming equipment, ensuring proper functionality and reporting any malfunctions or issues.
  4. Product Handling: Handle trimmed products carefully to avoid damage and maintain product integrity.
  5. Work Area Maintenance: Keep the trimming area clean and organized, including the proper disposal of waste materials.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of trimming activities, including quantities processed and any deviations from quality standards.
  7. Team Collaboration: Collaborate with other processing assistants and team members to achieve production goals and maintain workflow efficiency.

 

Accountabilities:

 

  1. Quality Standards: Accountable for meeting and maintaining high-quality standards in the trimming process.
  2. Productivity: Accountable for contributing to the overall productivity of the processing team.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  1. Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail to ensure precise and accurate trimming.
  2. Manual Dexterity: Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for effective trimming operations.
  3. Basic Math Skills: Basic mathematical skills for counting and recording quantities.
  4. Adherence to Guidelines: Ability to follow guidelines and standards for trimming operations.
  5. Physical Stamina: Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

 

Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Previous experience in agricultural or horticultural processing, especially in trimming roles, is advantageous but not mandatory.
  3. On-the-job training will be provided, and candidates with a willingness to learn and attention to detail are encouraged to apply.
  4. Familiarity with safety protocols and adherence to hygiene standards.
  5. Ability to work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
