Job Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor, the Irrigation Technician is responsible for executing the daily activities within the Irrigation department at a highly productive and efficient pace to achieve the weekly objectives. This role is responsible for a variety of duties revolving around daily irrigation, climate adjustments and equipment/sensor maintenance to achieve consistent plant health throughout the facility as instructed by leadership.
Major Responsibilities / Duties:
· Create and adjust irrigation strategies based on plant health and irrigation requirements via PRIVA.
· Mix and weigh nutrients according to guidelines/policies.
· Adjust and monitor climate setpoints through PRIVA.
· Track irrigations and nutrient solution specifications.
· Perform media runoff samples.
· Maintain various irrigation equipment and sensors.
· Scout for pests.
· Perform pesticide and other chemical applications.
· Maintain documents, forms and logs in accordance with Health Canada regulations and QMS standards.
· Where applicable, must adhere to Aurora's SOPs and comply with Health Canada’s Cannabis Act. In addition,
must adhere to all ISO requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
· Communicate with other departments to ensure timely & effective operations, including facility maintenance.
· Recognize unsafe conditions and practices and make corrections to prevent injuries and product loss.
· Support in all areas of operating irrigation systems, including general maintenance and sanitation.
· Position details and activities may change from time to time in order to meet operational needs.
· Weekend and holiday work on a rotating basis.
· Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
. Proficient understanding of irrigation system operation, maintenance, and repair techniques.
. Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams related to irrigation systems.
. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in diagnosing and addressing irrigation
system issues.
. Familiarity with safety protocols, regulations, and best practices in irrigation system
operations.
. Familiarity working with Quality Management Systems and following GMP/GACP/GDP
regulations and procedures
Education & Experience:
· Previous greenhouse or horticulture experience is an asset.
· Knowledge of irrigation systems and irrigation equipment is an asset.
· Experience using climate/irrigation control systems (Priva, Argus, or Hoogendoorn) is an asset
· Pesticide spraying license is an asset
· Mechanically inclined and able to work with tools
· Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
· Intermediate computer skills in MS Office.
Working Conditions:
· Must be able to lift 50lbs on a consistent basis.
· Must be able to work in hot environments.
· Must maintain a clean-shaven face for daily respirator use.
· Occasional overtime and after-hour system monitoring required.
