QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

 

Location: Brampton DC, ON

 

Aurora Cannabis is seeking a self-motivated individual to lead the Brampton, Ontario Quality Assurance team. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance - East, the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will be responsible for the day to day management and oversight of the Quality team and Quality Management System in a distribution warehouse environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the site QA team.
  • Be able to be approved as the site Health Canada Quality Assurance Person (QAP).
  • Participate in interviews, hire, train, motivate and perform performance evaluations on the QA team.
  • Design, write, review and approve SOPs in compliance with Cannabis Regulations, Cannabis Act, Aurora’s QMS, Good Production Practice (GPP) and proper distribution practices.
  • Oversee Health Canada GPP requirements.
  • Experience with electronic inventory management systems.
  • Review and release of final product as per Health Canada requirements.
  • Manage emerging issues (e.g. new quality finding) and associated risk communications to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain a relationship working closely with Aurora’s logistic partner.
  • Ensure control plans and internal self-inspections and audits are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements and quality agreement(s).
  • Collaborate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure product receipt through to release are managed under a Quality Management System and Health Canada requirements.
  • Oversee the management of the Complaint program to ensure all critical trends are addressed appropriately and investigations are handled.
  • Oversee and direct the raw material control system.
  • Provides guidance in GPP and Good Documentation Practice training of new and ongoing staff.
  • Manage training and continuous learning of Quality staff by means of short courses, conferences, meetups, certifications, etc.
  • Efficiently & effectively make accurate assessments of failures to correct root cause to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Lead external audits from regulatory bodies and third parties.
  • Participate with the global QA group to ensure the Aurora standard is consistent across all sites and Quality is built into our processes.
  • Direct the development of the Quality strategy, methodology, discipline and framework. 
  • Oversee the QMS Sub-system at a site level, and perform review/approval of Change Management, Deviations, OOS Investigations, Product release, Customer complaints, Non-conformances, Corrective / Preventative Action (CAPA), Internal and vendor management, Document Management etc.,
  • Ensure corporate Quality initiatives are implemented at a site level (as directed)
  • Work in conjunction with other internal departments and external customers as appropriate, ensuring that the executive management is informed of serious quality issues.
  • Responsible for site Quality budget.
  • Oversee Quality Key Performance Indicator monitoring and review to determine areas for improvement.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

 

 

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Minimum 510 years' experience in drug, NHP manufacturing, Medical Laboratory Science, Food, Supply Chain Management, Quality Assurance field.
  • A Canadian (or assessed as equivalent) B.Sc. degree or equivalent in an applicable discipline of science (chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, chemical engineering, medicine, food science, horticulture, medical laboratory science) or related
  • Experience working in a warehouse/distribution center environment considered a plus
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse/distribution center environment
  • Ability to work under pressure with changing priorities, manage several tasks at once and meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to motivate, lead and develop direct reports
  • Must have excellent skills in organization, problem solving, oral presentation, technical writing and time-management.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Competency of technological writing (SOPs, Annual Reports, Investigation Summary).
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to speak and write in English.
