SITE SECURITY LEAD (ALTERNATE HEAD OF SECURITY)

 

Aurora is recruiting for a Site Security Lead (Alternate Head of Security), based out of Brampton. The incumbent will protect Aurora and its subsidiaries key assets: People, Product, Property, Information and Reputation.

Responsibilities include:  Coordinates the work processes, people development and operational requirements for the Security Department overseeing the day to day activities at the sites.  Provides training, coaching and mentoring to contract staff. Coordinates investigations involving the security department as assigned, generating reports, with findings and recommendations.  Completes departmental audits.  Coordinates the Administrative requirements for the departing including payroll, policy and procedures, billing etc. enforcing company & departmental policy and procedures, enforcing legislated regulations and monitoring electronic systems. The incumbent must provide excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Operates as a front-line resource, operating a post on a day to day basis completing the function of a Security lead officer on assigned shift.
  • Provides specialized training to staff to ensure they are knowledgeable about their job responsibilities, policies, procedures and systems.
  • Monitors and audits staff to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and systems operation.  Brings any issues to the attention of the Head of Security and/or General Manager.
  • Ensures ensuring that the applicable physical security measures set out in the governing countries regulations/legislation are complied with; and the organizational security plan of the holder.
  • Provides continuous coaching, training, information, and feedback to staff on duties and responsibilities.
  • Participates in departmental on-boarding for new hires providing training as required.
  • Provides support to control room operators in critical situations.
  • Works with Health & Safety, QA and other departments in maintaining and enforcing operational policy and procedure manuals, standard operating procedures, and Emergency response plans.
  • Maintains departmental Policy and Procedure manuals including completing an annual review to ensure manuals contain most current information.
  • Maintains the emergency response plans ensuring call lists are up to date, and any changes in facilities, departments or positions is addressed and updated.
  • Enforce security guidelines, policies and procedures.  Support the Security management team in achieving departmental goals.
  • Conducts or assists investigations and reports on employee accidents, inventory, shipping shortage, incidents and audits. In general coordinates assigned investigations that may relate to security, safety, quality, HR related, or incidents, to determine cause where possible, and to recommend follow up action. 
  • Conducts video forensic investigations and provide support to operational units through the use of video reconstruction as approved by the Sr. Director Corporate Security.  Ensures all governing company policies and/or applicable legislation including is followed.
  • Coordinates issues which may be of a sensitive and/or confidential nature under the direction of Sr. Director Corporate Security.
  • Investigate and respond to issues maintaining privacy including: following up, developing report, and recommended improvements where appropriate.  Complete case file outlining the steps and findings discovered during the course of the investigation.
  • Ensures all policies and procedures are followed prior to conducting investigations
  • Participates in departmental service planning and budget compliance.
  • Participates in company committees, project teams as assigned
  • Completes departmental tasks as required or assigned by the Corporate Security Department.
  • Works as front-line guard/loss prevention officer when required.
  • Responds to incidents and emergencies.
  • Provide support to various departments on projects and tasks that require Security assistance or involvement.
  • Supports the systems coordinator as required.
  • May assume responsibility for duties of Head of Security in their absence.
  • Assumes duties as defined by the Security Guard/Loss Prevention Officer policy.
  • Other duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • University degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 3 + years of experience with security systems programming/administrating Access Control Systems.
  • Requires 3+ years of experience with installation, troubleshooting and testing of security electronics equipment.
  • Military, Police, Security guard experience - preferred
