Job summary
We’re searching for a strategic leader to join our Finance Division in the role of Director, Taxation. In this role you will report into the VP, Finance, and provide strategic tax management and advice for the organization to ensure compliance and best possible outcomes for tax implications. You will lead a team of tax professionals and work with stakeholders throughout the organization to support successful business objectives through tax advisory, audits, corporate acquisitions, divestitures, and corporate reorganizations. As the Director, Taxation you will…
- Act as a trusted advisor to influence and negotiate business objectives
- Lead a team of tax professionals and support their continuous development, performance, and growth at Aurora
- Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business
- Prepare and review tax provision and compliance activities and identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making
- Support development and execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Perform research based on current and proposed tax legislation, regulations, and guidelines and communicate to key stakeholders
- Breakdown strategic problems and analyze data and information to provide tax-related insights and recommendations
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Liaise with stakeholders to align agendas and ensure a clear understanding of the business context
- Participate and lead in the design, implementation, and management of changes to core business processes, systems, information reporting and products to ensure compliance with relevant legislations and standards
- Monitor compliance with tax policies, procedures, and controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial information
- Review business-initiated transactions, including withholding tax and changes to tax requirements, to ensure tax risks are assessed, mitigated, and communicated to stakeholders in collaboration with team members
- Provide specialized consulting, analytical and technical support
As an experienced leader you will have…
- 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary education in a related field (we would also welcome an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
- A relevant professional designation (CPA/CA)
- Previous experience or consulting for publicly traded companies in the CPG, Pharma, or controlled substance space
- Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience
