Job summary
Are you an analytical professional who enjoys working with complex sets of data and financial models? Does the idea of working in a remote dynamic with a group of talented professionals in the cannabis industry sound exciting? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

We’re looking for a dynamic professional to plant their roots with us as our newest Financial Analyst, Commercial. In this role, you will report into the Senior Manager, Finance and play a key role in the growth of reporting and analytics in our Finance Team. You will be responsible for establishing forecasts, developing/implementing financial processes and building the financial models that provide the strategies and insights into actionable information. As a Financial Analyst, Commercial, you will...

  • Development and maintenance of financial planning and reporting infrastructure to support Commercial’s success. Specifically:
    • Development of the full financial forecast, including OPEX and headcount budgeting;
    • Tracking against budget versus actuals and performing risks & opportunities assessments;
    • Developing and implementing margin optimization strategies within the Canadian Consumer and Medical segments
    • Ownership and building of entire business unit P&L – includes understanding what types of costs go through OPEX and CAPEX, and understanding efficiencies among vendors and types of spend
    • Provide guidance on matters requiring Finance support (i.e. AP process improvements, ad-hoc reporting asks, financial metric analysis, etc.).
  • Assist in updating key monthly reports and communicating to business leaders (KPI trends, commission reports, revenue, and profitability reports, segment P&L, etc) 
  • Assist in reviewing and approving product pricing strategies and requests
  • Assist in developing standard costs for innovation products
  • Design and development of profitability models (DCF, cost/benefit analysis, project analysis, etc.) for potential new investments, projects, and partnerships to provide business decision support during negotiations
  • Business decision support reporting, board decks, business performance, and other reporting requirements as needed
  • Ad-hoc requests, project ownership, FP&A support to other internal clients as needed

 

You will be setup for success if you have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or Finance
  • 3 years of business decision support experience, preferably with a publicly traded company, global organization, public accounting firm, management consulting, or investment banking
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and analytical reporting tools
  • Familiar with utilizing a multi-dimensional ERP system for management reporting
  • Experience providing financial and analytical support to those outside the Finance function

 

Bonus point if you have…

  • A CFA, CPA, MBA or relevant Accounting or Finance designation
