Aurora Larssen Projects Inc. is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work with our Design & Engineering department on various projects. This Engineer will be responsible for developing conceptual designs and implementing cost-effective equipment selections and sizing for new worldwide greenhouses and indoor facilities, including GMP processing areas. The incumbent will be part of the mechanical engineering team and report directly to the Director of Design & Engineering.




  • Provide heating, cooling and water load estimates and consumption forecasts for new growing facilities, according to local climate data.
  • Design automated heating, screening and water technical systems (i.e irrigation, water reclaiming and growing tables, etc.) for an ideal controlled environment.
  • Research and liaise with suppliers and service providers of greenhouse and cannabis related equipment.  Ongoing technological watch of cannabis growing and mechanical systems.
  • Prepare and review design documents (calculations, models, drawings, reports, specifications, RFPs) in collaboration with D&E colleagues, Project Managers and Drafters.
  • Review technical tender documents, approve international vendor proposals and local detailed engineering before and during construction phase.
  • Analyze operation results of mechanical systems during commissioning and operation phases; identify improvement possibilities and provide solutions for future designs.
  • Provide recommendations and implement solutions to mechanical design issues; ensure compliance with ALPS quality process and standards.
  • Provide some construction phase field support services as required.
  • Other duties as required.




We are creating the standard in cannabis growing and processing.  The incumbent is thus required to have a strong set of basic mechanical engineering knowledge coupled with a dynamic and innovative set of skills such as:


  • Ability to lead a project’s mechanical design from conception to completion, including RFP submissions, concept design, schematic design, design development, contract documentation, specifications and schedule.
  • Proven ability in applied thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Organized and focused professional, with the ability to prioritize various tasks and have a flexible approach to assignments.
  • Ability to coordinate with other disciplines and clients and work within a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, meet quick deadlines, and handle multiple projects.





  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of 3+ years relevant experience.
  • Strong academical skills are required - most recent grades are to be provided.
  • Solid technical background in HVAC, energy systems and pipe sizing are required.
  • Professional engineering license (P.Eng.) is considered an asset.
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary teams operating in a fast-paced, innovation driven environment
  • Knowledge of greenhouse engineering and the emerging cannabis industry would be considered a strong asset.  Notable interest is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
