Cultivation Support Technician (Part-time)

 

SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Greenhouse Manager, the Part-time Cultivation Support Technician will assist with daily cultivation and operational duties at Aurora Coast – Aurora’s cutting-edge cannabis breeding greenhouse located in Comox BC. The position is for part-time work to assist full-time staff when additional support is needed for cloning, seeding, planting, harvesting, cleaning, or other tasks.

 

This a part-time position that will have a variable work schedule depending on activities at the research facility. The schedule will vary between 5 to 20 days per month depending on need. Pay will be calculated on an hourly basis.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cloning, seeding, transplanting, planting, pruning, and harvesting as required
  • Cleaning and sterilizing of cultivation rooms and equipment
  • Assisting the Operations team with maintenance tasks, as needed
  • Comply with company safety, regulatory standards, and security

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Experience with plants and plant management, particularly in a greenhouse or nursery
  • Technical training or experience with greenhouse management, horticulture or related tasks is an asset
  • Basic knowledge of the life cycle of cannabis
  • Ability to work in environments with cannabis pollen and plant debris
  • Ability to work hard and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
  • Able to comfortably lift 22 kilograms
  • Ability to undertake repetitive work

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work will require interacting with other staff
  • Physical effort is required: lifting, pushing and pulling up to 22 Kg
  • Temperatures range from 20 to 32 degrees Celsius
  • Repetitive use of hands, wrists and forearms
  • This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure
