ASSISTANT MANAGER, MANUFACTURING

Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, the Assistant Manager, Manufacturing will be responsible for assisting in managing, planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, and leading the manufacturing activities for the facility. This Assistant Manager will coordinate multiple teams and will ensuring quality and consistency of service delivery, and will focus on execution of higher level planning, forecasting, and general business activities of this facility.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor and report that manufacturing capabilities meet growth demands as well as all industry and customer requirements for quality, cost, delivery, and safety, as well as suggesting creative solutions to ensure deliverables are being met
  • Ensure staff are complying with GMP’s, SOP’s and other company processes and policies
  • Work with executive management to establish and manage current and long range manufacturing objectives, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), strategic plans and policies
  • A forward-looking partner to our key leadership on people planning, project profitability, and other operational functions
  • Assist with and facilitate the resolution of logistical and technical problems
  • Ensure regulatory adherence at all levels of operation
  • Coordinate activity between department supervisors to ensure operational function while planning and establishing work schedules and production sequences to meet production goals
  • Assess ongoing regulatory suitability and functionality of all facility processes and procedures - establish work with the Quality Assurance department to revise SOPs and related forms
  • Directly or through supervisors ensure employee schedule is maintained
  • Review and approves all time off requests for Supervisors
  • Assist in conflict resolution at all appropriate levels within the facility
  • Support and nurture a team environment, identify gaps and weaknesses and allocate human resources accordingly
  • Understand and follow all related SOPs and procedures to GMP standards
  • Complete all required documentation using good documentation practices
  • Lead all weekly Team meetings
  • Direct and promote employee safety through Company safety program and create a culture of safety and teamwork in the manufacturing department and throughout the facility
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with ERP software an asset. MS Dynamics GP preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer software applications, with proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word & PowerPoint)
  • Pharmaceutical or manufacturing experience preferred
  • Experience working in a regulated space
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities and requirements
  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 plus years of manufacturing, batching, maintenance, facilities, and inventory control experience
  • 2 plus years of experience in CI/ Lean Manufacturing practices.
  • 2 plus years of Team Management/Leadership experience.
  • 2 plus years of Project Management experience.
