TECHNICAL WRITER

Reporting to the General Manager the Technical Writer will be located in Cremona, AB, and will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write new Quality Assurance requests
  • Read, write and review ASTM standards, patent info & other technical writing for our department
  • Plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational procedures
  • Research, develop and create technical specifications and protocols
  • Analyze documents to maintain style of content continuity
  • Responsible for creating and/or making formatting changes and edits to draft documents based on supporting documentation from departments (Standard Operating Procedures, Material Specifications, Validation Protocols)
  • Serve as technical resource to departments in the development of Master Production & Packaging documentation by advising on current document naming conventions, active standard instruction requirements and master template issues
  • Collaborate with document owners and change control owners to perform a thorough and complete impact analysis for all components of the change control request
  • Facilitate the compiling of supporting documentation (ie. Mark-ups, drafts) with the document owner
  • Ensure all related documents and data affected by a change request are captured
  • Ensure changes outlined in the change management system coincide with mark-ups and or proposed change
  • Ensure all changes are aligned with GMP regulations
  • Ensure the correct documents are included to support the changes required
  • Provide technical support/instruction to document and change control owners on the proper use of custom toolbars and formatting techniques and correct template usage
  • Act as liason between the document owners and QA document control
  • Monitors rejections/corrections during the business impact process and inform the appropriate individuals for issue resolution
  • Track and monitor progress of master document changes to meet cycle time goals and customer service level agreements
  • Alert the change control owner of time-related issues as necessary
  • Gather and analyze data for non-conformances and preventative actions
  • Produce high-quality procedures that meets applicable standards and are appropriate for their intended audience
  • Understand and follow all related SOPs and procedures to GMP standards
  • Complete all required documentation using good documentation practices

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a technical writing position
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in English, Communications, or other related fields
  • Ability to act with minimal supervision, discretion, maturity, and with absolute confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to explain concepts clearly
  • Ability to work under tight timelines and to balance multiple and varied projects at one time
  • Public company experience preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet
  • Familiar with using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel etc.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Excellent communication skills, both in oral and written
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset
