TISSUE CULTURE TECHNICIAN, MOUNTAIN

 

*Please note this is a one year term position*

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain complete records and inventories using Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the laboratory.
  • Continuous improvement and innovation of tissue culture techniques for Cannabis.
  • Observe crops and recommend inputs.
  • Clean, sterilize and maintain equipment and facilities.
  • Set up and operate equipment including autoclave, laminar flow hood, LED light arrays, and pH meter.
  • Select live material with desired characteristics.
  • Prepare selected tissues for production.
  • Prepare tissue culture media suitable for the phenotypes to be cloned.
  • Record data using logs, notebooks and batch records. Follow strict SOPs for research and development, and production.
  • High level of accuracy doing repetitive tasks
  • Ensuring the laboratory is well stocked and resourced. Effectively communicate with the Lab Manager for supply orders.

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to follow strict SOPs, GDP, and GLP
  • Excellent reporting skills
  • Ability to use sterile/aseptic technique effectively
  • Hygiene Control.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma/Bachelors’ degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or Biology with experience in Plant Tissue Culture
  • Must pass RCMP Criminal Records Check
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working in a team environment
  • May be required to relocate
