Reporting to the Manager Health & Safety, the Health & Safety Coordinator will assist with the implementation, development and maintenance of the company’s health and safety program. Administering programs that educate employees on, and ensure compliance with; all legislation and regulations issued by government agencies, and where appropriate, safety programs required by clients for whom we provide services.


  • Evaluate the workplace environment and assist with developing safety-management practices that identify and define the safety responsibilities of all employees
  • Investigate incidents, establish the root causes and recommend preventive action against a recurrence
  • Assist the Manager Health & Safety with the management of WCB claims; ensuring timely completion of accident/injury reporting
  • Ensure the workplace tools and equipment meet industry standards and are installed properly, as defined by the Occupational Health & Safety legislation
  • Maintain a highly visible presence in the facility; assist in implementation of the HSE programs in the facility and perform regular inspections
  • Schedule and perform pre-construction contractor Health Safety and Environmental orientation meetings, including project hazard assessments and site safety plans
  • Provide Health & Safety support to Edmonton area Aurora facilities
  • Work closely with management and leadership to drive and strengthen safety culture, as well as resolve safety issues and make improvements to the safety program
  • Assist with creating a delivering all safety communications
  • Develop and influence a positive company safety culture
  • Other administrative tasks as required


  • Extensive understanding and knowledge of provincial and federal health and safety guidelines
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel is required
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Excellent time management & multi-tasking abilities, as well as a high level of energy and ability to provide an exceptional level of customer service to internal and external customers
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Detail and results oriented with the ability to multi-task, and adhere to deadlines
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information and situations



  • Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role
