Reporting to the Director of Health & Safety, the Health & Safety Coordinator will assist with the implementation, development and maintenance of the company’s health and safety program. Administering programs that educate employees on and ensure compliance with; all legislation and regulations issued by government agencies.  This position is a 1 year contract for Maternity Leave coverage and is based out of our Nisku, AB facility.


  • Evaluate the workplace environment and assist with developing safety-management practices that identify and define the safety responsibilities of all employees
  • Strengthen safety culture by resolving safety issues and make improvements to the safety programs
  • Proactively analyze HSE statistics for trends and errors in incident management system
  • Assist with workflow of department expenses; invoice workflows, expense reports through various systems
  • Producing HSE reports on a weekly, monthly, and as requested basis
  • Administration and maintenance of training programs. This may include voice recordings and quiz creative development
  • Creation and distribution of H&S Communications
  • Management of TRIF; hours entry, incident audits
  • Maintaining HSE team agenda and facilitation of various team meetings
  • Project management within H&S Team and with other departments
  • Experience with Smartsheets is preferred;
  • Smartsheet mgmt. for HSE Team; Continuous improvement, editing, troubleshooting, creation of workflows
  • Document control  
  • Experience with SharePoint preferred;
  • Management of Internal SharePoint sites; approval requests, updates, page editing, troubleshooting etc.
  • Assisting in the administration and maintenance of various H&S Programs


  • Extensive understanding and knowledge of provincial and federal health and safety guidelines
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
  • Excellent time management & multi-tasking abilities, as well as a high level of energy and ability to provide an exceptional level of customer service to internal and external customers
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Detail and results oriented with the ability to multi-task, and adhere to deadlines
  • Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information



  • Diploma or Certificate(s) in Occupational Health and Safety
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Health and Safety role
