MECHANICAL DESIGNER

 

Reporting to the Sr Project Manager, Devices, the Mechanical Designer is responsible for the following:   
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in Aurora engineering activities including design, development, production and testing
  • Design devices  and Create 3D models and 2D drawings using Solidworks software
  • Create SLAs and build prototypes as required to analyze concepts
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (Hardware Systems, ID, MFG, QA, PM etc.) to incorporate requirements into 3D detail design
  • Contribute and support project specifications, work requirements, timelines and related project costs
  • Perform design analysis as required (drop, thermal etc. )
  • Create electro-mechanical stack-ups to meet ID design intent
  • Effectively communicate project status updates to project manager
  • Research new technology, suppliers, concepts and/or Cannabis related products
  • Record and track project related data for internal processing and IP applications
  • Test products and processes and evaluate results to identify problems and estimate cost of resolutions

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 5+ years of consumer product design or production experience is preferred
  • Post-Secondary in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering or related industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience in using Solidworks EPDM
  • Excellent 3D modeling using complex surfacing along with details drawing skills
  • Experience with small and medium complex consumer products,
  • Extensive knowledge in plastics and metal parts design as well manufacturing processes (machining, welding, injection molding, etc.)
  • Understanding of Tooling and Molding processes
  • Practical experience and knowledge using DFMEA, DFM, TAs, ESIs with suppliers/Mfg.
  • OEM/ODM/JDM product development experience with NA and Overseas partners
  • Knowledge and experience of product validation and certification testing
  • Knowledge of the ACMPR, Medicinal Cannabis devices, equipment and products
  • Understanding of quality management systems such as ISO, CSA, ASTM, FDA and GMP
  • Experience and passion for Cannabis is a plus
  • Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary, nation-wide team
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills  
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills with multiple software and devices platforms such as MS office etc.
  • Excellent Problem solving and analysis
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to travel
