PRODUCT R&D TECHNICIAN, CONCENTRATES

We are looking for an experienced candidate to assist the R&D and development of concentrates for both recreational and medical markets. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the organization to design, develop and support manufacturing setup of new concentrate products.

You will support the Product Manager of Concentrates in the research of new product concepts and manufacturing methods to produce consumer centric cannabis products that align with the brand values and business goals.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the R&D process in identifying, evaluating and performing new methods of creating and extracting cannabis concentrates with a focus on hydrocarbon (butane & propane) along with solventless processes
  • Records and maintains R&D trial planning, documentation and evaluation of trail results
  • Execute pilot trials to verify feasibility and work closely with Engineering to translate to large scale manufacturing
  • Work closely with the technical writers in developing SOPs, manuals and proper documentation of the new manufacturing process
  • Create process development trial studies to evaluate new methods when creating novel products
  • Implement product specification and conduct tech transfer of the new process to the Operations team
  • Oversee scale up and pilot manufacturing runs during the initial commercial phase
  • Maintain product and market knowledge. Analyze and keep abreast of market trends to identify new product opportunities
  • Work closely with consumer insights and strategy to identify consumer needs and ensure opportunities are relevant, feasible and scalable
  • Maintain product leadership and evolution by continuous product advancement, improvements and evolution

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years’ experience in product development or extraction
  • Experience extracting cannabis from hydrocarbon and solventless an asset
  • Supported the launch of new products from concept to commercialization with exceptional discipline
  • Passion for consumer insights and ability to translate into a business opportunity
  • Highly organized problem solver with the ability to analyze and prioritize work to meet business objectives
  • Knowledge of cannabis, the concentrate market and production methods in this category preferred
  • Knowledge of GPP/GMP processes preferred
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or higher degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
