Responsible for establishing and managing the scope, budget, schedule, construction and start-up of various Equipment and Process related Capital Projects for Aurora Cannabis Inc. ensuring that all company regulations and procedures are followed and that all work is done in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.



  • Working with members of the Engineering Team, assemble the appropriate project team to execute each project through concept development, scope definition and estimating, design, procurement and construction execution.  A critical part of this role is the understanding of the end user requirements and how they may change given the innovative nature of the work. A strong relationship with Operations and R&D is critical for success.
  • Use mechanical, electrical and process systems expertise to work with individual Customers and EFQ (Engineering and Facilities Qualification) to ensure the appropriate commissioning, qualification and training plans with accompanying resources are in place to deliver a vertical, sustainable, compliant startup.
  • In cooperation with the other MedReleaf project leadership team members, ensure that overall Project plan is in place to ensure the customers expectations are met in every sense and a complete manufacturing system is realized.
  •  Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with established MedReleaf and regulatory standards including; safety, cGMP, building code and construction safety requirements.
  • Assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of engineering standards, and ensure compliance on all projects.
  • Support the operational teams (facilities and manufacturing) as required for solving problems related to facilities and systems.
  • Ensure all necessary permits and inspections are in place and closed out as required by law.
  • Lead and/or support the development and execution of regulatory and compliance plans/documents for commissioning and validation work.
  • Assist the Engineering Management Team in evolving the department and furthering the goals of same.
  • Where applicable, must adhere to MedReleaf’s SOPs and comply with Health Canada’s Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR). In addition, must adhere to ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environment Management System) and OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series).
  • Where applicable, promote and maintain GMP requirements.
  • Other duties as required



  • Minimum 5 years experience leading the design and construction of process equipment focussed capital projects in a team environment.
  • Proven track record in managing major capital projects ($1MM ++) in a team environment “on time and on budget”.
  • Knowledgeable in the regulatory aspects of construction, including; Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Building Code, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act, TSSA, etc.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering/Technology in the Province of Ontario or equivalent experience.
  • PEO (Professional Engineer of Ontario) designation eligibility - P. Eng. preferred.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, CADD concepts.
