Manager, IS Infrastructure 


Aurora Cannabis Inc. Is looking for a Manager, IS Infrastructure to join our Information Services team in the fast-paced cannabis industry. The successful applicant will be accountable for leading a team that supports all of Aurora’s infrastructure including network, storage, servers, phone systems, and cloud-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate for this position has strong leadership skills and extensive technical experience managing enterprise level infrastructure, is highly innovative, and enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment.  


Main Responsibilities: 


  • Oversee and manage multi-platform data center operations, server, storage and network infrastructure 

  • Manage and coordinate daily and weekly activities of the infrastructure resources 

  • Strategically plan stabilization and availability efforts to constantly improve and consolidate the existing systems 

  • Plan, develop and optimize the IS Infrastructures in local and remote environments and coordinate with the Project Management Office for project delivery assignments. 

  • Manage and oversee all corporate backup and replication infrastructure and strategies. 

  • Manage and oversee Cloud (AWS / Azure) infrastructure 

  • Manage and oversee the logging and monitoring of infrastructure. 

  • Manage and oversee wireless infrastructure. 

  • Manage and oversee the Mitel VOIP phone system. 

  • Lead refresh and upgrade efforts for networks, servers, storage and telephony infrastructure. 

  • Report and communicate effectively to the Director, IS Operations regarding all aspects of assigned projects, associated tasks, and related project recommendations. 

  • Develop plans when required to ensure: hardware, software, network, and voice system upgrades, installs, changes, relocations etc. are efficiently completed by the team as required. 

  • Regularly work with other IS teams both internal and external to the company, as required 

  • Manage, coordinate, and communicate on incidents and problems from inception to resolution, including root cause analysis; drive continuous improvement for monitoring services and internal processes that encompass the completion of completion of systems requests and production incidents. 

  • Create and maintain (and publish as necessary) documentation for various IS systems, networks, procedures etc.,  

  • Monitor and report on network and system performance and bandwidth requirements and provide proactive solutions for improvements and efficient resolution of any problems. 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the team responsible for infrastructure support. 

  • Develop, manage and control departmental expenditures against the operating expense and capital budgets 


Skills Required:


  • Excellent communications skills (oral, written and presentation) 

  • Strong relationship management skills with vendors and other third parties 

  • Experienced on providing strategies and plans to align with compliance efforts required by SOX and PCI 

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing priorities and requirements 

  • Great understanding of information security best practices 

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and collaborate on projects 

  • Good knowledge of network and physical security as it relates to infrastructure. This includes perimeter security such as Firewalls and segmentation, as well as intrusion detection and prevention, and secure procedures 

  • Proven ability to provide a high level of customer satisfaction 

  • Expert in root cause analysis 


Education and Experience:


  • Experience managing a large-scale enterprise environment 

  • Strong technical skills in application support, is an asset 

  • Experience supporting VOIP phone systems including call centers is an asset 

  • Experience with Juniper and Aruba networks is an asset 

  • Experience supporting call centers is an asset 

  • Experience with SD-WAN (Velocloud) and zScaler is an asset 

  • Experience with hyper converged infrastructure (Nutanix) is an asset 

  • Strong Microsoft Server experience including back office applications and services is a plus (SQL, Exchange, AD, DHCP, and DNS) 

  • Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in Computer Science or related field 

  • 5+ years of supporting Enterprise level infrastructure 

  • 5+ years managing infrastructure support teams 

  • 10+ years’ experience in the IT industry 

  • Proven ability to manage teams working in multiple locations 

  • Proven ability to motivate and keep team highly engaged 

  • Experience with projects involving multi-disciplinary teams operating in a fast-paced, innovative driven environment 

  • Knowledge of the cannabis industry would be considered an asset
