PAYROLL MANAGER 

 

Reporting to the Director, Payroll & Benefits, the Payroll Manager will work in collaboration with payroll management by leading all aspects of the organizations payroll system. The ideal candidate will provide direction to the rapidly growing payroll team and be responsible for timely, accurate and compliant payroll while driving process improvements. The successful candidate must demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, while being hands-on in a fast-paced growing environment. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Oversight and management of all activities related to payroll processes for approximately 2600 hourly and salaried employees across Canada 

  • Mentoring, developing and motivating a team of five, by fostering an inclusive work environment 

  • Oversee a bi-weekly payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees throughout Canada, including Quebec 

  • Lead the development and implementation of process improvements in all payroll related processes for maximum accuracy and efficiency, including standardization of payroll processes across jurisdictions and companies 

  • Collaborate with the payroll team to provide timely trouble shooting on complex payroll issues as they arise, both with Aurora and subsidiaries 

  • Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment standards and compliance with CRA and Revenue Quebec regulations 

  • Perform quarterly year-end audits and lead the year-end process. 

  • Maintain SOX compliant internal control processes and support audits 

  • Ability to successfully navigate complexity, ambiguity and pressure in a fast-paced work environment that requires balancing competing priorities 

  • Responsible for all provincial payroll taxes and WCB remittances 

  • Ensure the confidentiality and privacy of employee records as they relate to the organization and its customers 

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

 

  • PCP or CPM designation  

  • 10+ years of progressive full cycle payroll experience is preferred 

  • 5+ years’ experience leading or supervising payroll teams 

  • Experience in administering Quebec and US payroll  

  • Organizational skills: Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects with tight and competing deadlines 

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both verbal and written, with internal and external customers, while providing a excellent customer service. 

  • High-level of attention to detail and analytical thinking skills 

  • Experience using payroll software, time and attendance and HRIS systems 

  • Excellent communication skills, both in oral and written 

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint 

  • Knowledge of Dayforce Ceridian is an asset
