OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE SPECIALIST

 

Reporting to the Operational Excellence Systems Manager, the Operational Excellence Specialist’s focus will be on business performance through cultivation and manufacturing. This role will appeal to a process driven professional who is passionate about change. This position will support a sustainable growth strategy for Aurora’s Operational Excellence team and be a driving source to the continuous improvement culture based on Operational Excellence Systems. This position will work closely with other continuous improvement teams.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Conduct detailed data analysis utilizing best practise methods for analysis and standard evaluations (with an initial focus on time & motion studies and labor cost set-up in ERP system)
  • Lead Process mapping / Value stream mapping to identify opportunities for improvements.
  • Implement Lean, Kaizen and SMED initiatives based on Video time study.
  • Conduct VA analysis PFMEA/DFMEA
  • Improve operational knowledge level of people through simple lean concept coaching.
  • Develop and manage work instructions for operations
  • Resource for execution of process improvement initiatives
  • Report on financial impact of proposed activities and validate their implementation
  • Utilize best practices methodologies and recommend modifications necessary to improve and streamline processes within production, manufacturing, distribution and logistics functions.
  • Strategic thinking with a good vision for Operational excellence function is desired to align
  • Drive process cost reduction programs and be focused on profitability driven improvement projects.
  • Other duties as required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

 

  • Prior Business/Engineering/Mathematics/Computer Science undergraduate studies required
  • 3+ Years of Operations related work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Project-Based experience is critical to success
  • Experience in business development and implementing continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Must be able to propose and implement actions to improve the performance across the complete value chain
  • Green belt six sigma certification required.
  • Familiarity with the following software programs would be considered a definite asset;
    • Advanced Excel skills (VBA, Macros, Powerpivot, Dashboards etc)
    • Minitab            
    • Working knowledge of Simul8 / ARENASolidworks/ Other simulation programs
    • Autodesk/Autocad/Unigraphics
    • Matlab
