COMMERCIAL/REGULATORY LAWYER

 

Reporting to the Senior Counsel, this Regulatory and Commercial Lawyer will be responsible for providing legal advice to Aurora Cannabis Inc. and its subsidiaries in all matters pertaining to the regulatory issues in addition to other general corporate/commercial matters arising in the business.

 

MAIN RESPONSILBITIES:

 

  • Provide advice and deliver exceptional value in a dynamic and evolving practice, which will involve identifying regulatory, legal and reputational risks and making practical business focused recommendations that will advance the interests of Aurora and its subsidiaries
  • Provide support in a broad range of other matters including commercial agreements, policy documents and general business matters
  • Provide recommendations to senior and executive management and engage with domestic and global regulators
  • Advice on regulatory developments and assist in formulating and executing policies and procedures for the business
  • Providing regulatory support on transactions while working with other members of the legal team
  • Maintaining a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgement with an innovative approach to legal issues in support of strategic business initiatives and objectives

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Superior analytical skills and the ability to offer unique perspectives on complex issues pertaining to the regulatory framework
  • Ability to handle all different facets of commercial agreements; proven experience in contract drafting, negotiation, general regulatory, corporate and commercial law
  • Strong drafting skills and excellent oral and written communication, strong legal research, drafting and oral advocacy, strong drafting, negotiation and research skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
  • Proactively communicate with clients and develop and maintain a trusted relationship throughout the process
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities, as well as a high level of energy and ability to provide an exceptional level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience negotiating with government agencies and/or regulators is an asset
  • Outstanding problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining good judgment
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset
