SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING MANAGER

 

Reporting to the Director, Innovation and Best Practices, the SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING MANAGER will be responsible for but, not limited to, the following:

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Responsible for the design, development and manufacturing of sustainable packaging
  • Observe, analyze, and research packaging and line operations to develop and implement sustainable, scientific and efficient processes
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Logistics departments to monitor everyday activities of units and ensure continuous improvement
  • Ensure all department activities run smoothly including the provision and updating of specifications in compliance with new legislation, overseeing all trials and testing of new materials, as well as liaising with internal and external contacts
  • Oversees resources availability (material and equipment) necessary to meet and comply with production plans
  • Verifies adherence to procedures and controls and, provides corrective feedback during operations by frequent monitoring of production activities
  • Establishes corrective actions plan to eliminate process deviations and documentation errors

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

 

  • Knowledge of pharmaceuticals or manufacturing considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the emerging cannabis industry would be considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on positive, productive business relationships
  • Strong organizational skills including effective prioritization and follow-up
  • Ability to analyze problems and provide solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively and work well under pressure and tight timelines
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team
  • Ability to deal with confidential information with a high degree of diplomacy
  • Ability to manage and deploy initiatives by influence
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of SharePoint considered an asset
  • Strong work ethic, highly motivated and enjoys a challenge
  • Ability to facilitate continuous innovation initiatives, foster team building and simplify processes

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

 

  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams operating in a fast-paced, innovation driven environment
  • 3-5 years in a managerial role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in science, Engineering or Commerce
