JUNIOR BUYER, FOOD AND BEVERAGE

Aurora is looking to fill the role of Jr Buyer, Food and Beverage. This role will report directly to the Food & Beverage Purchasing Manager. This role will be tasked with providing support to the F&B Purchasing Manager.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process purchase requests by placing orders for a wide variety of goods and services and reviewing orders for quantity, specifications, delivery requirements, and compliance with established policies and procedures. Processes invoice queries, returns, credits, and interact extensively with staff, and vendors.
  • Ability to successfully complete a wide variety of daily administrative purchasing duties (i.e. following up on orders; confirming delivery of PO's; filing of documents; delivery of receipts; entry of receipts; resolution of order discrepancies, etc.).
  • Review price quotations and related information for accuracy and compliance.
  • With direction from F&B Purchasing Manager, reviews and approves orders for commodities and/or services when formal bids are not required.
  • Expedite orders to ensure they meet internal customer's needs.
  • Work with staff in other City departments to determine the procurement needs and requirements of internal customers.
  • Assist F&B Purchasing Manager in maintaining vendor lists, product information and purchase order records.
  • Assist with the disposition of surplus items & equipment
  • Work closely with departments to monitor vendor performance regarding quality, quantity, cost, and delivery.
  • May conduct pre-bid meetings as the representative of the F&B Purchasing Manager.
  • May participate in bid and proposal review.
  • Knows and comprehends the laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations governing the purchase of commodities and services.
  • Prioritizes own work.
  • Makes recommendations for improvements to procurement and/or inventory procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of:

  • Basic purchasing procedures;
  • Methods, policies, and procedures involved in purchasing a large quantity and variety of materials, supplies, equipment, and services;
  • The various grades and qualities of materials, supplies, equipment, and parts (specific to area of assignment) available to be purchased;
  • The sources of supply, current market conditions, price trends, and new product development methods and sources;
  • The general principles, practices and theories of purchasing.

Ability to:

  • Interpret technical data, policy and regulatory information to plan and coordinate procurement of products and services
  • Deal effectively with vendor representatives
  • Provide effective oral and written communication skills
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and to negotiate or gain agreement with others
  • Elevate and recommend solutions to purchasing problems, policies and procedures
  • Use standard office systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office and effectively apply related computer skills
  • Exercise initiative in the performance of assigned duties
  • Apply proper PO descriptive terminology or specifications to requisitions for commodities and services
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, co-workers, officials, suppliers, contractors, salespersons, and the public

 

PERFORMANCE APTITUDES

Physical Ability: 

  • Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort including but not limited to, lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, etc. of objects and materials of light weight (generally 25 pounds or less).  Tasks may involve extended periods of time in seated position and at a keyboard or workstation.

Social and Interpersonal Communication Skills: 

  • Position requires professional social and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to function in a major organizational unit requiring significant internal and external interaction.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least two (2) years of purchasing experience in a production environment
