MANAGER, TRANSPORTATION (EAST) 

Reporting to the Director of Transportation, the Manager, Transportation (East) role will work closely with our production facilities and distribution centers to establish industry best shipping, receiving and TM policies and procedures. Based out of Brampton, ON, this role will appeal to a detail oriented, transportation expert with outstanding transportation management skills. If you are an analytical individual capable of working in a fast-paced dynamic environment, you would be a great addition to our team. Occasional travel will be required for this role. 

  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Supports and facilitates the activities of the shipping and receiving departments across our production facilities and 3PL managed finished goods warehouses utilizing their knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates. 

  • Strong understanding of transportation models and their application with a particular focus on DSD and Wholesale operations.    

  • Support Aurora and 3PL ops teams across multiple facilities to implement standardized processes and deliver superior levels of control in shipping, receiving and order fulfilment. 

  • Provides oversight to dispatch operations and national disbursement activities. 

  • Leverage reporting tools and systems to analyze our logistics strategy and deliver superior results in a highly regulated industry. 

  • Assist in the design and implementation of the corporate ERP as it relates to logistics and fulfilment 

  • Provide support and develop solutions for the Logistics Team through complex problem solving 

  • Support the Procurement team and SPL in the review and selection of approved vendors. 

  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, material flow improvement, and business development 

  • Take action to improve processes and operational performance by working with other facility representatives and departments to drive continuous improvement 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  • Understanding of logistics, Transportation Management, International shipping, QA and audit processes. 

  • Experience with warehouse/transportation Management operations in a 3PL environment a plus 

  • Experience with automated pick/pack/fulfillment systems an asset 

  • Lean Management experience as asset 

  • Project management skills are key 

  • Analytical process view and able to document processes in process-flow 

  • Computers and technology oriented, advanced user in MS Office suite and other software. 

  • TMS, WMS, and database management competencies considered an asset 

  • Experience at responding to complex and stressful situations and resolving issues positively. 

  • High degree of ability to think strategically and problem solve 

  • Able to develop, follow and uphold standard operating procedures precisely and consistently; detail oriented 

  • Time management and follow-up skills; highly organized and detail oriented 

  • Self-starter with good judgment and can proactively manage up where appropriate 

  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations 

  • Operations excellence and continuous improvement oriented 

  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills 

  • Ability to sort, prioritize, retain and analyze information 

  • Ability to document relevant information correctly and completely 

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, use judgment and remain calm 

  • You have reliable transportation to work 

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written 

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree and/or 3+ years of Shipping Receiving/Dispatch/Operations Management experience 

  • Fluent in both French and English is an asset 

  • 2-3 years Transportation management experience 

  • 3-5 years in dynamic work field and international environment 

  • 1-3 years in logistics/supply chain /order entry/customer service preferred
