Our Aurora Sun facility, located in Medicine Hat, AB, is currently looking to hire an Irrigation Operator to join our team. This position reports directly to the Facility Maintenance Manager. *Note: For training purposes the successful candidate may be required to spend up to the first three months (approximately) of their employment at the Aurora Sky facility near Edmonton, AB for training.  Or, travelling between Sun and Sky as necessary.


  • Handle mixing and delivery of nutrients and amendments in a large facility
  • Inspect, program, adjust, and repair irrigation systems as instructed by theLead Cultivator
  • Maintain awareness of all budgets for assigned work and communication with manager regarding any  issues
  • Ensure all irrigation processes are operated and maintained properly and in accordance with SOP’s, GMP, and Health and Safety requirements
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve problems in the irrigation field
  • Inspect all controllers and adjust settings as needed accordingly
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in the inner workings of all PVC pipe fittings
  • Complete all paperwork and reports on time and accurately
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and team members
  • Care for all company equipment, tools and supplies
  • Manage all jobs and projects with the highest quality and in the most efficient way
  • Supervise others performing irrigation projects and installations



  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in irrigation
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Experience in a Manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of current codes and having the ability to read irrigation blueprints
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent oral, interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to self-organize and manage time and workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to clearly speak, write, and understand English
  • High School Diploma
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Preference will be given to applicants with industrial automation experience and/or knowledge as well as knowledge of computer controls
  • Basic agricultural knowledge is considered a strong asset
  • Strong Knowledge of the Building Management systems and Irrigation software.
