MAINTENANCE PLANNER, SUN

Our Aurora Sun facility, located in Medicine Hat, AB, is currently looking to hire a Maintenance Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Manager, this role will gather requirements and produce production and manufacturing schedules to support our operations. This role will appeal to an outstanding problem solver who excels at creating complex modelling and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. *Note: For training purposes the successful candidate will be required to spend up to the first three months (approximately) of their employment at the Aurora Sky facility near Edmonton, AB for training.  Or, travelling between Sun and Sky.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Permit advanced determination of labor resources needed and time required to complete each job, which aids the maintenance supervisor in measuring the performance of his/her personnel
  • Allow elimination of delays due to waiting for information, materials, equipment,  tool, etc.
  • Provide the cooperation  in connection with each job to do work as prescribed by operations -
  • Provide a central source of information concerning preventive maintenance.

  • Permit advance determination of the number of labor resources needed in a given area or location
  • Reduce the number of job interruptions once work is started.
  • Establish job goals for the work force
  • Apply specialized ability to the planning and scheduling of shutdowns
  • Optimize manufacturing schedules, including coordination of work orders and assumed time frames to ensure sufficient product availability within several distinct markets
  • Communicate expected availability and real-time delays to stakeholders while providing mitigation recommendations and shifts
  • Provide  and assist Facility Manager with managing daily, weekly, monthly and annual production reports to ensure we are in line with machine capacities, materials and manpower availability
  • Define and determine trends, proceed with all required planning analysis to identify any issue
  • Consult with functional teams such as supply planning, sales, production planning and procurement to obtain relevant data and insights on demand
  • Responsible for performing cost/benefit analysis in support of proposed process improvements and developing recommendations to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of a CMMS such as SAP or Maximo
  • Broad knowledge and excellent understanding of a range common business functions and practices, including but not limited to maintenance management, inventory management, customer service, records management, policies and procedures, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities and requirements
  • Self-motivated and customer focused
  • Experience working with ERP software
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and collaborate on projects
  • Ability to think strategically, problem solve and make quick decisions
  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel (advanced skills)
  • Proficiency in database setup and management (Access)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Time management and follow-up skills; highly organized and detail oriented
  • Effective team player and  approachable and supportive
  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience planning in a manufacturing environment
  •  
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset
