Whistler Medical Marijuana Company is looking to hire a General Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Vice President, Production the General Manager will be responsible for managing, planning, coordinating, and leading the operational activities for the Pemberton and Whistler facilities. This Manager will lead multiple teams and will ensure quality and consistency of service delivery, and will focus on higher level planning, forecasting, and general business activities of WMMC. This position oversees two locations in Pemberton and Whistler and is required to travel between the sites frequently.


  • Ensure regulatory adherence at all levels of operation
  • Coordinate activity between department supervisors to ensure operational function while planning and establishing work schedules and production sequences to meet production goals
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams of staff, including production, maintenance, security, manufacturing, etc.
  • Participate in audits and liaise with government inspectors to maintain regulatory adherence
  • Contribute to research for new and existing technologies for their suitability in a cannabis product manufacturing space
  • Assess ongoing regulatory suitability and functionality of all facility processes and procedures - establish work with the Quality Assurance department to revise SOPs and related forms
  • Directly or through supervisors ensure employee schedule is maintained
  • Review and approve time off requests for direct reports
  • Assist in conflict resolution at all appropriate levels within the facility
  • Support and nurture a team environment, identify gaps and weaknesses and allocate human resources accordingly
  • Understand and follow all related SOPs and procedures to GMP standards
  • Complete all required documentation using good documentation practices
  • Lead all weekly Team meetings
  • Lead transformational organization with new technologies and products lines involving automation
  • Implement Lean thinking tools for staff development and operations performance
  • Accurately plan budgets, capital expenses and projects
  • Develop and execute compliance plans related to Occupational Health and Safety, Product Quality, etc.
  • Audit and report weekly on facility conditions
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required; troubleshoot issues to determine cause and solution
  • Other duties as required

  • Above average knowledge of word-processing software, spreadsheet software, and email software

  • Experience in dispatching/logistics a plus



  • 7+ years in a managerial or leadership capacity in a relevant industry, including cannabis production, manufacturing, Aseptic Packaging, etc.
  • 3-5 years project management and operations excellence experience are considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in site management role in a GMP and ISO certified environment
  • Well-developed experience working with ERP systems
  • Strong relationship-building and people-management capabilities
  • Experience working with suppliers and contractors
  • Ability to multitask and oversee concurrent projects
  • Excellent time-management, organizational and communication skills
  • Roll out of advanced Lean Manufacturing; value stream mapping, 5S, A3 root cause analysis, factory visualization


  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, Engineering or other relevant discipline or comparable experience
