Job summary
The Technician, Maintenance is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of facility systems and infrastructure to ensure reliable and efficient operations at the Alpine facility located in Pemberton, BC. Reporting to the Supervisor, Facility Maintenance, this role supports both reactive and preventive maintenance activities across the facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. The Technician, Maintenance works closely with internal teams and external contractors to maintain building systems, support operational needs, and minimize downtime. This role requires strong technical skills across multiple trades, attention to safety, and the ability to respond effectively to maintenance demands in a fast-paced environment.
Major Responsibilities / Duties:
• Perform routine, preventive, and reactive maintenance on facility systems including HVAC, plumbing, minor electrical repair, and structural components.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment and building systems to ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
• Support installation, repair, and maintenance of life safety systems and building infrastructure.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and execution of preventive maintenance programs.
• Track and monitor the lifecycle of building equipment and provide input for repair or replacement planning.
• Support maintenance audits and inspections for both in-house and contracted services.
• Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) (e.g., DIMO, Envysion, PRIVA) and building automation systems to track work orders, maintenance activities, and equipment performance.
• Assist with scheduling and prioritizing maintenance tasks in alignment with operational needs.
• Support coordination with contractors, including site visits, inspections, and performance monitoring.
• Assist in evaluating contractor performance and ensuring work meets quality and compliance standards.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, regulations, GMP standards/GDP, established SOPs, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions and participate in corrective actions.
• Follow procurement policies and procedures when sourcing materials or services.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support facility operations including room setups, waste management, recycling, and grounds maintenance.
• Support operational readiness by ensuring all facility systems are functioning effectively.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Escalate operational, quality, or maintenance concerns to the Supervisor, Facility Maintenance or Director, Facility Management.
• Complete required documentation accurately, as directed, and in compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Education & Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Additional coursework or certification in related fields is an asset.
• Minimum of 2 years Building Maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with mechanical tools and equipment repairs is required.
Working Conditions:
• Most/all working hours will be spent in the production environment.
• Full PPE is to be worn at all times during working hours. Includes booties, coveralls, gloves, hairnet, glasses and surgical mask, certain duties also require use of half face respirator.
• Occasional physical effort is required, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
• Temperatures range from 16 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius.
• The role requires frequent walking, standing, and site inspections within operational areas, which may include climbing stairs.
• Working in both indoor and outdoor environments.
• This position involves significant exposure to cannabis/plant materials, and it is therefore not likely suitable for an employee that may suffer from allergies to cannabis/plant pollen material, or experience other medical issues, such as asthma and hay fever, as a result of cannabis/plant material exposure.
This role is in one of Aurora’s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certified plants and works directly with products. Towards the end of the recruitment process, we require that you undergo a medical screening exam with our third-party vendor.
