Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, East, the Occupational Health Nurse will be situated at our MedReleaf facility in Bradford, Ontario, and will be responsible for the following:



  • Providing advanced first aid response and/or patient care, as needed
  • Provide health screening services such as audiometric testing, fit testing, and fitness for work assessments
  • Supervise, maintain, and restock as needed the facility medical supplies
  • Participate in health and safety hazard assessment
  • Lead site-based wellness initiatives and work with Ergonomics Coordinator to facilitate site-based programs and recommend improvements
  • Facilitate staff education, training and other initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to clinical operations
  • Responsible for securing and developing all records, equipment, and programs related to occupational health services
  • Collaborate with outside resources for program development, such as healthcare providers, third-party administrators, legal advisors, medical director, regulatory agencies, etc.
  • Evaluate and treat all injuries and illnesses in an efficient and professional manner within the scope of practice and consistent with regulatory college (i.e. CNO) guidelines
  • Guide and direct all referrals to outside healthcare providers and services
  • Participate in WSIB case management and guide appropriate return to work programs
  • Administer the company’s Impairment Policy
  • Assist with the incident investigation program aiming to identify and analyze root causes of all incidents and near misses
  • Assist departments with identifying, evaluating, and implementing accommodations and return to work options for workers with restricted duty limitations
  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety, Operations, and Human Resources to develop operations, programs, and services by providing content subject matter expertise
  • Other tasks that may be assigned from time to time



  • Current status registration with provincial nursing regulatory college
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing with preference towards OHN (Occupational Health Nursing) certification
  • Basic understanding of federal and provincial regulations applicable to occupational health, safety and environment
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Ability to act with minimal supervision, discretion, maturity, and confidentiality
  • Ability to work under tight timelines and to balance multiple and varied projects at one time
  • Public company experience preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software for word processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet
  • Familiar with using Microsoft Office – Word, Excel etc.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Excellent communication skills, both in oral and written
