Job Summary
Aurora Cannabis Inc. is currently seeking a IT PMO Lead who will report to the Director, IT Service Management & Security. This role is responsible for overseeing project governance, standardizing processes, and ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives. They drive the adoption of project management best practices, providing guidance, tools, and methodologies to enhance project execution and delivery. This role collaborates with IT and business stakeholders to monitor project portfolios, manage risks, and optimize resource allocation. As the PMO IT Lead you will be involved in …
- Overseeing the IT PMO for the department.
- Owning the project intake process which identifies and categorizes value added business projects that require IT involvement. With the help of the business partners and IT SMEs, develop the high-level business requirements, the constraints, assumptions, risks budget, resources, scope, and timeline.
- supporting the IT team, create and own project templates and help foster adoption through IT and the business.
- Maintaining IT PMO methodologies, frameworks, and standards to ensure consistency across IT projects.
- Developing and maintain a PMO roadmap and strategy.
- Supporting IT portfolio management, including project prioritization, demand planning, and resource allocation.
- Developing and maintain reporting and dashboards to provide visibility into spend across the overall IT department project budget (CAPEX/OPEX), individual project performance, risks, and resource utilization on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually utilizing the Stop Light Methodology.
- Providing guidance, training, and mentorship to project managers and teams on PMO processes and tools.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness.
- Supporting IT Senior Leadership, ensure alignment of IT projects with business objectives and strategic goals.
- Supporting and guide project managers in the execution of IT projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Managing IT project documentation, templates, and knowledge repositories.
- Driving project management best practices and is highly customer focused.
- Owning the internal PMO communication and works closely with IT communications when communicating with the business with consistency and transparency.
- Assisting of IT Senior Leadership, holds Project Managers accountable for budget, resources, timelines and outcome.
- Overseeing IT SDLC project governance, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, best practices including our IT General Control Framework.
- Leading SDLC process walkthroughs as part of the annual SOX audit.
- Owning project intake that need to be included in the upcoming Budget. Categorize projects appropriately according to Investment Council recommendations. For example, current categories are Growth, and Maintenance.
- Continuously assess and improve project management processes to ensure optimal project execution.
- Overseeing timesheet approvals for projects, collaborate with finance and procurement teams to track project budgets and financials. Assist with project setup and administration in the timesheet system.
- Working with PMs and coordinate with recruiting firms to onboard and renew contractors to support projects and the IT department.
- Experience providing data-driven fact-based metrics on the health of a project portfolio.
You would be the best fit for this role if you have…
- A degree in Computing Science, Technology, Engineering, Science, Business or related discipline considered an asset.
- Professional Project Management Certificate or greater (e.g., Project Management Institute (PMI), PRINCE2).
- 5 years of progressive experience in a project management, PMO, or a related role.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, ServiceNow, JIRA, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint), or similar platforms.
- Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in program/project management, portfolio management, systems development methodology and managing change.
- Ability to lead in a geographically distributed team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer focused and can influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Strong work ethic, detail oriented, highly motivated and enjoys a challenge.
- High level of professionalism, integrity and ethics.
- Willing and able to learn new skills and concepts quickly.
- Enjoys a multi-faceted and dynamic work environment.
- Able to prioritize and be flexible, while maintaining efficiency.
Bonus points if you have…
- Experience in enterprise IT environments with large-scale project portfolios.
- Experience with Agile and Waterfall frameworks and overseen
- Familiarity with financial management and budgeting for IT projects.
- Knowledge of change management and business process optimization.
- Understanding of IT Operational process. ITIL certification is considered an asset.
