Cleaning Team Lead (Days), Sun


Aurora Cannabis is looking for a Cleaning Team Lead to join us at the new Sun facility in Medicine Hat, AB.  Reporting to the Facilities Cleaning Manager, this position will also include the responsibility of carrying out cleaning tasks and special projects as assigned.  Prior to completion of construction on the new building this position will play a key role in supporting the Manager prepare for the operation to start up.  The hours will initially be Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm (40 hours per week) and may transfer to a rotational day-shift once the team of Cleaners has been assembled. *Note: For training purposes the successful candidate may be required to spend up to the first month of their employment at the Aurora Sky facility near Edmonton, AB., or, travelling between Sun and Sky as necessary.




  • Oversee cleaning shift leads and their direct reports
  • Ensure team members are meeting company standards and following SOPs
  • Ensure compliance with both GACP and GMP requirements in cleaning practices
  • Responsible for creating, adjusting, and maintaining employee shift schedules, including rotational shifts
  • Handle performance management and goal setting for/with team members
  • Delegate tasks as required and handle issues as they arise with respect to workflows as well as people management
  • Provide mentorship to team members and assist with workloads when necessary
  • Ability to manage a diverse and growing team of individuals
  • Support the business unit by providing care-taking/maintenance inspections 
  • Coordinate weekly inspections with cleaning staff, document and follow up on deficiencies and provide report to management 
  • Communicate and work closely with Team Lead and Managers from other departments to coordinate activities that affect the daily cleaning schedule
  • Work with Operations and Shipping and Receiving to coordinate storage of materials
  • Occasionally order supplies
  • Follow up with contractors to ensure work is completed and plan necessary cleaning and sanitizing
  • Other facility operational duties assigned by Manager
  • Use various computer applications to enable efficient planning and scheduling
  • Comply with all Health and Safety policies and procedures relating to performance of tasks, use of products or supplies, and incident reporting
  • Communicate on a regular basis with the Facilities Manager to ensure company goals are met and the team is functioning smoothly




  • High school diploma, post-secondary education considered an assest
  • 5 years cleaning experience
  • Knowledge of GACP and GMP required
  • Minimum 3 years commercial cleaning experience
  • 3-5 years in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Familiarity with MSDS
  • Ability to think strategically and problem solve
  • Ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Time management skills; organized and detail oriented
  • Effective team player and leader; approachable and supportive
  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations
