An exciting opportunity to lead one of Aurora’s key growth verticals related to strategic partnership development. The Director of Partnerships will directly report into the Vice President of Global Business Development and will primarily work with a highly skilled deal team. The successful candidate will also work cross-functionally collaborating with colleagues from other divisions to support in the execution of each the company’s overall strategic plan.





  • Responsible for managing communications and engaging with prospective businesses from the time of initial contact through to completion of the partnership
  • Play an active role in performing various outbound call campaigns as well as lead generation activities, and in coordinating and implementing due diligence for any potential partnership
  • Have an active role in negotiating deals between potential partners
  • Determine partnership conclusions and create presentations for executive management for aiding decision making in these sensitive deals with sound support utilizing detailed financial models and valuation analyses
  • Conduct extensive research, gathers information about target partners, and liaises with analysts to develop a prospecting list
  • Tasked with leading/managing research and prospecting new target partners and being the liaison between business segments driving the partnerships  
  • Take an analytical role where he/she is in charge of overseeing and conducting daily meetings, reviews, metrics, and clear documentation of follow ups with prospective businesses
  • Keeps up with industry, partnership trends and best practices, constantly imparting them on the department in order to ensure continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of Aurora Cannabis Inc.’s activities
  • Stays informed on current and developing legislation governing partnerships, ensuring that all of the business’s partnership initiatives are within the confines of the law/regulations
  • Coach and develop junior staff to help progress them in their careers
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects supporting the execution of the broader Business Development / M&A team
  • Other duties as required.





  • Corporate project management discipline and structure
  • Experience with business development, initiating conversations and following through to execution
  • Must have strong financial and modeling skills, as well as strong interpersonal and sales skills
  • Prior experience in private equity, transaction consulting or investment banking considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Global market knowledge, good business understanding, problem-solving skills, and business intuition
  • Experience in product development partnerships with CPG companies would be a benefit
  • Experience managing and coaching others develop their talent
  • Strong team player as well as ability to work independently
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills





  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related area
  • 8+ years’ experience in a related role with direct partnership or deal structuring and negotiation experience
