MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS MANAGER

Aurora Cannabis Inc. is currently looking for a Mergers and Acquisitions Manager to join our growing team. Reporting directly to the VP of Global Business Development, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing communications and engaging with prospective businesses from the time of initial contact through to completion of the deal
  • Play an active role in performing various outbound call campaigns as well as lead generation activities, and in coordinating and implementing due diligence for any potential transactions
  • Manage prospect pipelines in order to produce and surpass expected results
  • Have an active role in negotiating transactions between the business and potential acquisitions, joint ventures and partnerships
  • Determine investment conclusions and create presentations for senior M&A management for aiding decision making in these sensitive transactions with sound support utilizing detailed financial models and valuation analyses
  • Conduct extensive research, gathers information about target businesses, and liaises with analysts to develop a prospecting list
  • Take an analytical role where he/she is in charge of overseeing and conducting daily meetings, reviews, metrics, and clear documentation of follow ups with prospective businesses
  • Keeps up with industry, M&A trends and best practices, constantly imparting them on the department in order to ensure continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of Aurora Cannabis Inc.’s merger and acquisition activities
  • Stays informed on current and developing legislation governing mergers and acquisitions within the business’s jurisdiction, ensuring that all of the business’s M&A initiatives are within the confines of the law
  • Tasked with leading/managing the M&A analysts in researching and prospecting new merger and acquisition targets within a specified profile that is in line with the buy-and-hold strategy of the business
  • Coach and develop analysts to help progress them in their careers

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Corporate project management discipline and structure
  • Experience managing and coaching others develop their talent
  • Experience with business development, initiating conversations and following through to execution
  • Must have strong financial and modeling skills, as well as strong interpersonal and sales skills
  • Prior experience in private equity, transaction consulting or investment banking considered an asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Global market knowledge, good business understanding, problem-solving skills, and business intuition
  • Bilingual (English/French) is considered an asset as well as Spanish
  • Strong team player as well as ability to work independently
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field
  • 6+ years experience in a related role, ideally coming from investment banking or M&A consulting, experience with excel modelling
  • Transaction experience
  • Designation in a related field (Ca, CPA, CFA, CBV etc.)
