SENIOR ANALYTICS MANAGER – MEDICAL MARKETS (Vancouver or Toronto)

 

Reporting to the Director of Sales Analytics, the Senior Analytics Manager – Medical Markets will bring deep analytics expertise, complemented by strong project management and stakeholder management skills. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills in translating technical subjects into business-consumable insights and recommendations. This is a fast-paced, multi-faceted position in which you will be responsible for the delivery of quality and timely analytics using sound methodologies, reporting, data management and team coaching.  

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and prioritise analytics projects and deliverables to support decision-making across multiple commercial business units
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of reports and deliverables accompanied by supporting documentation of assumptions, risks and methodologies used
  • Adhere to existing departmental frameworks and processes to enable shared learnings and scalability of solutions
  • Leverage analytics competencies to uncover or size new opportunities, build business cases, improve resource utilization and business performance related to growth in revenues, market share, patients, profitability, etc.
  • Provide relevant analyses and recommendations to support commercial business units’ information needs such as sales channel performance and planning, product, promotion, pricing, segmentation decisions
  • Develop models and “what-if” scenarios to demonstrate the range of options and potential impacts available to company decision-makers
  • Continuously improve on the design and development of sales channel analysis, reporting frameworks and KPIs for medical markets extracting data from multiple sources
  • Help define analytics and reporting requirements and lead testing of new reports and dashboards
  • Work closely with external vendors to oversee strategic analytics projects
  • Maintain documentation of assumptions, methodologies, risks and requirements of analytical deliverables  
  • Other duties as required.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Experience in analytics delivery and projects with a focus on sales and marketing functions
  • Ability to interpret the results of complex analytics concepts and translate insights into action for senior management
  • 5+ years of experience managing a team of practitioners to deliver analytics solutions
  • Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous work streams and shift / adjust resources to achieve optimal results
  • Understanding and experience working with relational databases and ability to create custom queries using data mining tools (eg. SQL)
  • Experience creating data visualizations in business intelligence tools (eg.Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Experience working with external partners and supporting multiple stakeholders across the enterprise
  • Sensitivity and awareness around the use of and sharing data
  • Strong business acumen and focus on all aspects of revenue management

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in technical or business field; advanced degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics or MBA is preferred
  • 8+ years minimum work experience in analytics field in a related industry, and at least 5 years minimum experience in a leadership and/ or project management role
  • Masters level degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, econometrics in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Marketing, or Operations Analysis, PhD is a plus
  • Proven track record of developing analytics talent and high performing teams
  • Experience in regulated and medical products industries preferred (e.g. alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals)
  • Effectively worked in fast-paced, high growth environments with shifting priorities
  • Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • High level of detail orientation and focus on data accuracy
  • Strong technical reporting and modelling skills; Advanced Excel and Access database skills + MS Office applications experience e.g.  VBA Macros / SQL knowledge
  • Willingness to learn and adjust to new paradigms and processes as part of a new industry
  • Strong adaptability to changing environments and priorities; able to juggle multiple projects and pivot based on changes in priorities
  • Experience working with unstructured datasets and disparate data sources
