Job Summary
The IT Solution Architect designs and delivers technology solutions that support Aurora’s global cannabis business. They work closely with business and technical teams to create secure, scalable systems that align with company strategy and IT standards. This role collaborates across operations, supply chain, applications, infrastructure, and security to gather requirements, define solution designs, and identify improvements. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential to ensure everyone is aligned and solutions follow best practices.
The IT Solution Architect oversees the full solution lifecycle—from initial design through implementation, ongoing support, and continuous improvement. They ensure solutions meet business needs while remaining reliable, cost-effective, and compliant as the organization evolves.

As the IT Solution Architect you will…
- Work with the Manager of Enterprise Architecture and Integrations to build a technology roadmap for the organization
- Design and deliver end-to-end solutions that align with Enterprise Architecture principles, target-state roadmaps, and approved architectural standards.
- Translate business requirements into solution designs that conform to Enterprise Architecture guidance, patterns, and non-functional standards.
- Ensure all solution designs comply with Enterprise Architecture, security, data governance, and SDLC standards, escalating deviations through established governance forums when required.
- Architect integrations, data flows, and system interactions using industry best practice integration patterns to ensure consistency and interoperability across the technology landscape.
- Produce and maintain solution architecture artifacts (design specifications, diagrams, and architecture decision records) in alignment with Enterprise Architecture documentation standards.
- Evaluate technologies, platforms, and vendors against Enterprise Architecture strategy and standards, providing recommendations that support long-term architectural direction.
- Provide architectural oversight, guidance, and support during project delivery to ensure implemented solutions adhere to approved architectural standards, industry best practices, and solution design intent.
- Identify and document architectural risks, tradeoffs, and exceptions, ensuring transparency and alignment with governance and escalation processes.
- Act as a liaison between delivery teams and business stakeholders to ensure shared understanding and consistent application of architectural standards.
You will be setup for success if you have…
- 7 to 10+ years of experience in an Architecture role working on large enterprise solutions
- Post-secondary education, such as a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma, in computer science or related field
- Strong technical experience designing, navigating, and deploying solutions using Microsoft suite of applications (including D365, Power Platform), Mulesoft, and cloud platforms (Azure and AWS) and making recommendations in large organizations.
- Knowledge of SOX, GDPR, PCI-DSS, NIST, Australian Privacy Principles, and PII. Familiarity with cannabis industry regulatory requirements. Participate in audit walkthroughs for different compliance frameworks including but not limited to SOX, GMP, and PCI-DSS.
- Skilled in cost modeling, cloud cost efficiency, and budget alignment—directly relevant to Aurora’s financial governance processes.
- Knowledge of Zero-Trust models, IAM, encryption, data governance, auditability, and secure-by-design principles.
- Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks, integration patterns, and best practices in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Strong grounding in systems integration, including APIs, messaging, middleware, and distributed system design.
- In-depth understanding of cloud-based architectures with experience architecting scalable, resilient multi-cloud and hybrid environments with an emphasis on Microsoft Azure and AWS.
- Expertise in virtualization, storage, networking, load balancing, identity management, and cost optimization strategies.
- Strong knowledge of software design patterns, microservices, RESTful architecture, API lifecycle management, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to guide technical resources in sequence planning, risk reduction, incremental architecture validation, and technology selection.
- Extensive hands-on exposure to ERP platforms, supply chain modules, and integration patterns critical to Aurora’s operations (DRP, MRP, logistics, constrained/unconstrained planning).
- Prior experience working with global remote teams with strong relationship building skills
- Robust communication skills with ability to connect with all levels of the organization and manage multiple priorities at once in a fast-paced dynamic

- Experience supporting IT specific initiatives and a certification in one or more of the following (asset): TOGAF, Cloud Architecture Certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Practitioner), COBIT, ITIL

- Experience embedding security early in solution design (identity, logging, monitoring, access, audit).
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs across performance, cost, risk, compliance, maintainability, and time-to-market.
- Familiarity with analytics, planning systems, and data flows critical to production/operations.
- Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications; articulate constraints and options.
- Influence and provide leadership without authority: guide teams through architectural decisions and change management.
- Emotional Intelligence, Negotiation, Conflict Resolution: critical for navigating complex stakeholder environments. Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the ability to collaborate with executive leadership, business partners, vendors, and technical teams.
- Adaptability in Rapidly Changing Environments: essential in high-growth, heavily regulated cannabis industry.
- Translate ambiguous business problems into measurable technical requirements (latency, RTO/RPO, availability, compliance objectives).
- Support technical resources in sequencing delivery, defining milestones, and ensuring architectural fidelity in execution.
- Evaluate and optimize existing systems, identifying improvement opportunities aligned to Aurora technology standards.
- Effective project and program management skills, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and delivery of IT initiatives.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate alternative technologies and recommend optimal solutions.
