SPECIALIST, ERP & FINANCE SYSTEMS


Aurora is looking for an ERP Specialist to join our Finance team for a permanent position in our downtown Vancouver office.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, ERP & Finance Systems, the ERP Specialist will be primarily responsible for providing support for our ERP system (Sage X3) within our Corporate Finance team. The successful candidate will analyze systems and work directly with users and management to define system requirements, propose solutions, configure software, and where needed, train employees.

The successful candidate will be thoroughly knowledgeable about all aspects of the ERP systems software, and will be able to design, develop, test, deploy and maintain data processing solutions to enhance the ERP systems for the Corporate Finance team

 

Responsibilities:

  • Providing end user ERP system support and training to the Corporate Finance team
  • Testing, implementing, training, and/ or supporting the implementation of Finance process improvements within the ERP system
  • Supporting the Corporate Finance team as the technical point of contact regarding ERP system issues including trouble-shooting, testing and training and executing corrective action when necessary
  • Subject matter expert and consultant for all things ERP and finance process related
  • Performing key financial tasks in the ERP for period close such as: monitoring suspense/clearing accounts, ensuring all tasks are complete prior to period close, roll-over of the fiscal year
  • Work within the finance group to ensure effective use of our ERP system. This would include report writing, programming, creating direct connections to other systems for importing data as required and overall application of improvements to get the most out of the system
  • Thoroughly understand business practices and procedures in order to design, develop and maintain automated workflow processes with the ERP system
  • Stay ahead of the new Sage X3 features and functionality, and provide recommendations for improvements
  • Adapt to changing priorities of the business and seek out ways to develop new skills
  • Balance multiple concurrent projects and contending priorities
  • Write and maintain procedural documents related to ERP functions specific to the Corporate Finance processes.
  • Support Finance team in business process improvements, implementing best practices and fully utilizing ERP system capabilities.
  • Ensure ERP system meets Finance department’s business requirements and goals and fulfills user requirements.
  • Conduct routine periodic activities in ERP system as directed to provide supporting information for organization and management.
  • Support administration of ERP security and permissions for ERP users.
  • Perpetual monitoring and identification of problems in the ERP system.

 

Qualifications

  • Accounting experience/ training/certification required
  • Prior experience configuring finance modules in ERP systems
  • 3 or more years of ERP systems management - experience with Sage X3 an asset
  • 3 or more years driving finance process improvements
  • Finance experience and proven industry experience in a complex work environment preferably manufacturing and logistics
  • Experience working with companies with multi-currency and multi-country environment
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with all levels of management, both verbally and in writing
  • General understanding of best practices and business processes in Finance and Accounting
  • High level understanding of SOX, Segregation of Duties, Change Management and Information Technology General Controls
  • Experience with Data Migration

  • Proficiency in written and oral communication skills and demonstrated ability to foster relationships, build trust, and lead reporting to senior-level management and oversight functions
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
