Located in Comox, BC, this position will manage Aurora’s cannabis genebank, which includes both clonally propagated genotypes and seed inventories. Working closely with the Director of Breeding and Genetics, the Germplasm Curator will be responsible for maintaining the germplasm inventory, maintaining a database of germplasm information, and involved in its deployment to Aurora production and research facilities. The Germplasm Curator will also be responsible for coordinating the genetic fingerprinting of these materials and managing access to those data. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills are key to this role.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build a comprehensive inventory of all Aurora germplasm
  • Ensure that high value materials are backed up as appropriate
  • Oversee the construction of a germplasm database and its population
  • Coordinate the cultivation of specific germplasm and collect phenotypic data throughout its life cycle
  • Coordinate the genetic fingerprinting of germplasm and the deposition of that data
  • Coordinate the circulation of germplasm and fingerprint data to Aurora researchers and production staff
  • Coordinate the delivery of germplasm between Aurora sites and groups
  • Naming of new germplasm entries
  • Maintenance and testing of high value seed stocks
  • Other duties as assigned



  • Scientific background, holding a MSc in plant biology or related field
  • Experience with plant cultivation, plant breeding and/or genetics research
  • Experience in data management and exposure to databasing tools
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A “get things done” attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment is crucial
