Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, the Global Controller is a brand new position and will direct and oversee the global accounting operations, management reporting, administrative, transactional support and the financial services area of Aurora’s foreign subsidiaries. He or she will maintain efficient and effective financial policies and procedures and ensure adherence with all internal controls. The scope of this role includes, but is not limited to, the following:



  • Will have direct management responsibility of the senior global accountants and shared management responsibility of accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset and intercompany accountants
  • Lead the global accounting operations of Aurora’s foreign subsidiaries, including the control systems, transaction-processing operations and policies and procedures
  • Enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported global financial results and ensure that all reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards
  • Ensure timely financial and management reporting of foreign subsidiaries including completeness and accuracy of monthly and quarterly financial packages
  • Coordinate and directly interact with corporate controller and director of accounting to facilitate the monthly and quarterly close processes with a focus on driving improvements (i.e., the quality and efficiency of output) to enable optimal business decisions
  • Coordinate with the leadership teams of foreign subsidiaries with respect to statutory government reporting and filing requirements
  • Effectively manage the daily activities of the team to ensure maximized scheduling and real-time utilization of resources
  • Contribute to the overall success of the organization by effectively managing all financial processes for the organization, including the preparation of management reports
  • Manage the consolidation process, including but not limited to, consolidation of foreign subsidiaries, multi-national and multi-currency subsidiary financial statements
  • Review timely analysis of variances, actual to budgeted results, and forecasts, together with relevant financial and operational analysis to support all reporting requirements
  • Develop financial strategy, including risk minimization plans and opportunity forecasting



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; preference given to those with a master’s degree
  • Accounting designation required
  • 5-10 years of experience in progressive accounting/finance roles
  • Experience with multiple entity consolidation including international subsidiaries would be an asset
  • Knowledge of IFRS and management accounting
  • Broad knowledge and excellent understanding of a range of business intelligence concepts and common business functions and practices, including but not limited to maintenance management, inventory management, customer service, records management, policies and procedures, finance systems and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities and requirements
  • Self-motivated and customer focused
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working with ERP software would be an asset
  • Time management and follow-up skills; highly organized and detail oriented
  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and collaborate on projects
