MANAGER, INTERNAL CONTROLS

 

The Manager, Internal Controls will be based in Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, or Toronto, and will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the Company’s internal control framework. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring Aurora’s global internal control activities to promote operational efficiency, ensure financial statement reliability, and ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including NI 52-109 and SOX Section 404 requirements.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Company’s global risk assessment process and development of audit programs
  • Develop and implement an integrated audit plan for Aurora and its subsidiaries based on scoping and risk assessment
  • Ownership of SOX-compliant internal control documentation (process flowcharts, business process narratives, risk control matrices)
  • Develop an internal audit resourcing plan
  • Plan, organize, and oversee internal control testing programs
  • Coordinate with external auditors on the annual audit plan
  • Prepare internal audit reports and communicate internal audit findings to the Audit Committee
  • Identify control gaps and provide constructive recommendations for remediation
  • Oversee annual NI 52-109 certification
  • Communicate with and educate management on the importance of an effective control environment and the importance of SOX compliance

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • CPA (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation is required; CIA or CISA designation is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the COSO Integrated Framework (2013); knowledge of COBIT is an asset
  • Experience with Sage X3 is an asset
  • Minimum 7 years external or internal audit experience
  • Self-motivated and exercises sound business acumen with a high level of autonomy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Availability to travel within and outside of Canada, on occasion
