ACCOUNTANT, INVENTORY ACCOUNTING

 

Reporting to the Senior Global Inventory Analyst, the Accountant, Inventory Accounting will be responsible to reconcile and update inventory working paper, review source documents and reports, drive improvement of inventory management processes with a strong focus on inventory data integrity and valuation. The scope of this role includes, but is not limited to, the following:

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with internal teams/departments as a cross-functional resource for inventory management
  • Understand the processes of AP and procurement; AR and order fulfillment; Monitor costs are booked in appropriate GL, site, department. Match sales volume in gram equivalency to sites’ inventory continuity.
  • Utilize strong analytical skills to assess inventory data, identify issues and resolve with key stakeholders; analyze trends and promote opportunities for improved data integrity.
  • Conduct partial & cycle physical inventory audits to verify accuracy of system records; coordinate complete counts of all physical inventory as required
  • Reinforce inventory management procedures and policies are followed through its cycle.
  • Work closely with marketing team and revenue team to recognize/propose/validate appropriate journal entries relates to merchandise inventories.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the manufacturing costing and inventory management systems and methodology
  • Understand existing complex inventory valuation model to ensure updates’ efficiency, completeness and accuracy.
  • Identify opportunities to improve information transparency, propose changes for related departments to enhance assurance and mitigate risks.

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Accounting.
  • Active designation for CPA, CMA, CGA, or equivalent or near completion.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, includes 2+ years with a manufacture company.
  • Broad knowledge and excellent understanding of a range of business intelligence concepts and common business functions and practices, including but not limited to maintenance management, inventory management, customer service, records management, policies and procedures, finance systems and reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities and requirements
  • Results-oriented, process driven leader with deep reconciliation experience; demonstrated experience implementing best practice key metrics for transactional excellence and delivered improvements to metrics
  • Advanced Excel skills, modeling experience preferred.
  • Experience working with ERP software; Knowledge of Sage X3 would be an asset
  • Time management and follow-up skills; highly organized and detail oriented
  • Accountable for results, strives to meet and exceed expectations
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and collaborate on projects
