MANAGER, DEVELOPMENT SERVICES

Aurora Cannabis is looking for a Manager, Development Services to join our Information Services team in the fast-paced cannabis industry. Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the Software Engineering team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the delivery of software development projects, including websites and eCommerce.
  • Manage the relationship with our external and internal development teams
  • Manage stakeholder expectations effectively and with a customer-first orientation
  • Manage vendor relationships.
  • Handle Release Management for Software Engineering team, following corporate change approval process and maintaining segregation of duties.
  • Delivery of quality applications on-time and on-budget.
  • Report on status of product quality to management, customer support and product teams via rigorous execution of detailed plans and accurate reporting of test cases executed, bugs discovered, bugs fixed, etc.
  • Operational support of critical legacy custom systems, including “new legacy” systems from business acquisitions.
  • Ensure all software development initiatives are compliant with relevant rules & regulations (SOX/CSOX, PCI, GDPR, CASL, etc.) and corporate privacy policy.
  • Enforce and follow corporate IT general controls in all software development initiatives
  • Ability to work in an environment that promotes frequent releases while maintaining a long-term strategy.
  • Comfortable in a start-up environment, must be willing to wear multiple hats, be flexible and pitch in whenever and wherever needed to help get the job done. We love people who are excited to get involved where needed.

 

SKILLS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent proven industry experience.
  • 2+ years of experience leading or managing software developers for a software company building large-scale web applications
  • Experience mentoring and leading software developers and small teams through strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Ability to effectively manage dependencies and remove obstacles to ensure team productivity
  • Experience working in JIRA and Confluence a plus.
  • Keeps stakeholders proactively informed about project status and plans
  • Experience managing projects involving multi-disciplinary teams operating in a fast-paced, innovation driven environment
  • Experience working in a highly-regulated industry would be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of the emerging cannabis industry would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
