MANAGER, ENTERPRISE RISK AND ASSURANCE

This position is open to all locations across Canada

The Manager, Enterprise Risk and Assurance, will be a key leader within Aurora’s Enterprise Risk and Assurance team responsible for facilitating and overseeing Aurora’s SOX internal control framework, Enterprise Risk Management framework, and the internal audit function. This job is ideal for a candidate looking to rapidly progress their career while tackling priority issues that support robust governance, risk management and compliance at a large public company.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Risk and Assurance, the ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring Aurora’s global compliance, risk management and internal control activities to promote operational efficiency, ensure financial statement reliability, and ensure full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A key component of this job will be managing and executive procedures to comply with NI 52-109 and SOX Section 404 requirements.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Aurora’s global risk assessment process and development of risk-based audit plans and programs
  • Facilitate key governance programs and oversight committees, including the Enterprise Risk Management framework and Ethics and Compliance Program
  • Ownership of SOX-compliant internal control documentation (process flowcharts, business process narratives, risk control matrices) with input from business process and control owners
  • Undertake technical and resource planning related to control review and testing requirements, with the ability to both execute on testing procedures or oversee work by junior/outsourced staff members
  • Coordinate with external auditors on the annual audit plan
  • Analyze findings, observations and draw appropriate conclusions based on both technical guidance and professional judgment
  • Prepare status updates, reports and other information requirements as needed for the Executive Leadership Team, project stakeholders and the Audit Committee of the Board
  • Identify control gaps and provide constructive recommendations for remediation
  • Oversee annual NI 52-109 certification
  • Communicate with and educate management on the importance of an effective control environment and the importance of SOX compliance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
  • CPA (CA, CMA, or CGA) designation is required; CIA or CISA designation is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the COSO Integrated Framework (2013); knowledge of COBIT is an asset
  • Minimum 5 years external/internal audit or public accounting experience, with an emphasis on internal control knowledge

  • Experience with Sage X3 is considered an asset
